Another dry afternoon for most with the outside chance of a light shower in some coastal areas in the north ☁️ Plenty of very warm sunshine but cloud may linger in places, especially in northern Scotland and Northern Ireland 🌤️

Monday was another rather warm day in the south, although some parts of the north stayed cloudy. Here are the extremes 👇

High pressure keeps things largely dry and settled through much of this week, but there are signs it's beginning to weaken towards the weekend, opening the door for some much-needed rain in places 🌧️

A rather cloudy start to Tuesday across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland and the east coast of England, with a few showers possible ☁️🌦️ Elsewhere, it's a dry morning with plenty of sunshine on offer ☀️

Monday may dawn a little damp for a few of us, with patchy light rain and drizzle in the north 🌧️ The odd light shower will push south through the morning but the vast majority will stay dry 🌦️ After a locally chilly start, soon warming up in the strong sunshine 🌤️

Central Asia is set for an intense spell of heat 🌡️ Temperatures 5 to 10 °C above average are expected While high temperatures are common here, this heat is expected to be exceptional, with temperatures widely reaching the mid-40s °C and some areas reaching the upper 40s °C

A largely dry evening for most, with sunny spells lasting into dusk 🌄 More cloud across Northern Ireland and northern Scotland, although any showers should be light and fairly isolated ☁️🌦️

Wondering where the rain has emigrated to? The answer is nearer than you may think! Thunderstorms with frequent lightning have been affecting parts of France and central Europe today. High pressure will continue to block these from moving into the UK though ⛈️

The heatwave also continues across large parts of Europe this week 🌡️ Maximum temperatures are expected to be widely 8-12C above average

A beautiful start to Sunday for many, with plenty of sunshine from the get-go ☀️ A few spots of light rain could brush northern and eastern coasts, but most places will stay dry 🌥️ Feeling warm in the sunshine 😎

Rather cloudy across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland, with a few showers drifting inland ☁️ Elsewhere, sunny spells developing, with largely clear skies in the southwest 🌤️ Warm for many, though cooler where cloud lingers and along windward coasts

Isolated slow-moving thunderstorm cells have developed across mid and north Devon and north Cornwall ⛈️ These could give locally torrential downpours, frequent lightning and 20mm or more of rain in under and hour this evening, before decaying later.

Any isolated heavy showers in Devon and Cornwall fading away 🌦️ Otherwise, a fine and largely warm evening with plenty of sunshine and then clear skies after dark ☀️ Patchy drizzle and rain arriving in northern Scotland 🌧️

The heat is on the move and will shift westwards over the coming days Temperatures will also slowly drop from their current peak, but many across England and Wales will still remain above their heatwave threshold 🌡️

As high pressure and low pressure push against each other, a tightening of the isobars will result in a strengthening wind across southern regions of the UK 🌬️ By the end of the weekend, it will turn particularly gusty through the English Channel with choppy seas developing 🌊
