watching the aerial assault from my backyard this morning. all efforts right now are locked in on making sure the palisades fire doesn’t jump the 405 (nightmare scenario). two dc-10 air tankers finally arrived. they fly to the fire from San Bernardino and dump a MASSIVE line of phos-chek fire retardant then fly back to re-up. each drop costs around $55,000. from this vantage point you can really see how massive the fire line is on this flank. absolutely crazy.
