"Michael wasn't too aware of the Super Bowl. He wasn't too aware of how big this was," recalls Arlen Kantarian, the show's executive producer. "He just said, 'Why don't we call it the Thriller Bowl?'" Michael didn’t even want to do the halftime show, got most of his demands met, stood there for almost 2 minutes while the crowd went insane, had people backstage panicking because he wouldn’t give them the cue to start the music, got the NFL and a sponsor to donate $100K to Heal the World, reached 133.4 million US viewers with his message of love and unity, and literally set the blueprint for every halftime show that came after him. The absolute fucking GOAT 👑
