The feds just sprinkle some cash and a ton of red tape. Ditching the department cuts the strings, not the schools. Kids Won’t Lose Out: They’ll scream about poor kids or special ed losing support. Reality check: Trump’s team isn’t axing programs like Title I or IDEA—they’re talking about moving them to other agencies or block grants. Same money, less middleman. Why’s that so scary? Feds Don’t Run Schools Anyway: Ask them: “What does the Department even do?” It doesn’t set curriculums or hire teachers—it’s mostly loans and grants. States and local boards already call the shots. Shutting it down isn’t flipping the table; it’s just clearing out an extra cook in the kitchen. Woke Agenda Pushback: The Department’s been a megaphone for stuff like gender ideology and CRT, which a lot of parents hate. Trump’s move says, “Let states and families decide what’s taught, not some elite agenda.” If they’re pro-choice on education, why not this? Congress Has to Agree: They’ll say Trump’s some dictator who’ll ruin everything. Remind them: he can’t just snap his fingers and poof, it’s gone. Congress has to vote, and it needs 60 Senators. This isn’t a power grab—it’s a debate liberals can join if they’ve got better ideas. Jimmy Carter’s Experiment Failed: The Department started in ‘79 under Carter, and conservatives have been skeptical since day one. Decades later, are we really better off? If it’s not working, why cling to it like a security blanket? Efficiency Over Bureaucracy: Elon Musk’s DOGE crew is already sniffing out waste. Why keep a $79 billion agency when we could streamline it into something leaner? Liberals love efficiency when it’s their pet projects—why not here? Challenge Their Fear: Flip it on them: “If you’re so sure the states can’t handle it, why do you trust them with everything else—like roads, cops, or taxes?” Watch them squirm when they realize they’re betting against the people they claim to champion.
