Hello everyone, its Mohamad Fakih. Since Tuesday, a great deal has been said about Paramount Fine Foods. Unfortunately, much of the public narrative being presented by the Mayor does not reflect the actual facts. Let me be absolutely clear. This is not a case of Paramount refusing to pay. To demonstrate my commitment to paying the amount, Paramount delivered cheques to the City for the full amount based on the agreed payment terms. I have been actively trying to resolve this matter since December. Since then, the City continued introducing additional conditions and unreasonable demands that made it impossible to reach a final resolution. I have text messages with Mayor Carolyn Parrish that tell a very different story than the one she claims in her statement. Quite honestly, I’m astounded by Mayor Parrish’s handling of this entire situation and the false statements that have been made. Her suggestion that this was some kind of unilateral termination by the City is completely false and we have proof to support this. When I reassumed control of Paramount Fine Foods in 2025, I no longer believed the sponsorship arrangement was viable. Following discussions I personally had with the Mayor, we mutually agreed to end the sponsorship. So that everyone is clear, the outstanding amount connected to this sponsorship was NOT something I personally created or was responsible for. It was an obligation that existed before I returned to lead the company. But because I love this city and respect the taxpayers of Mississauga, I will always be committed to paying the agreed owing amount. I have never waivered. I am not in the business of disclosing confidential communication on social media. But If I need to, I will release these messages because I will not allow a misleading narrative to stand unchallenged. What is deeply disappointing is watching our Mayor publicly target a Mississauga business that has invested millions into this city, created jobs, supported charities, and was honoured with a Key to the City… while threatening to spend significant taxpayer dollars on legal action and prolonging a public dispute unnecessarily, despite our willingness to pay for months. This was a solvable matter. Instead, it was turned into a public spectacle. Mississauga residents deserve honesty and leadership focused on solving problems, not creating public fights. The Paramount Fine Foods Centre has been home to countless memories, from youth sports and community events to concerts, celebrations, and moments that brought our city together. As we conclude this sponsorship, I want to thank the residents of Mississauga, the City of Mississauga, and the incredible staff who have helped make this facility such a success over the years. While our name may no longer be on the building, our commitment to Mississauga remains as strong as ever. Cooking 500 hot meals for people in need in Regent Park is always humbling. Sharing coffee with our dedicated volunteers is one of my favorite parts. I get to listen to their stories and learn from their experiences. Our volunteers are the heart of this work. They embody the values that make Canada stronger — compassion, generosity, and commitment to community. They show that when we come together to serve, our backgrounds and beliefs don’t matter — what unites us is a shared love for humanity. #canada #kindness

A lot has been said this week. So I'm setting the record straight. I remain confident that Paramount honoured the payment amount approved by Mississauga City Council. Paramount never refused to pay. Paramount delivered the cheques. The City has them. If Mayor Carolyn Parrish believes there is still a difference, I have repeatedly offered mediation and am even willing to pay for it myself. This week, Muslim scholars and pro-Palestinian voices were blocked from entering Canada, while individuals who have promoted violence against Palestinians were welcomed. Canada Border Services Agency where do you truly stand on human rights, freedom of expression, and international law? Many Canadians see a disturbing double standard in the application of the law. A line was crossed this week. Canadians aboard the Gaza flotilla were detained and mistreated for attempting to deliver humanitarian aid, and here at home those advocating for Palestinian rights continue to face scrutiny. Mutual respect requires mutual rights. Canadians cannot be expected to "get along" while pro-Israeli lobbying groups are free to organize, advocate, and exert influence, while Palestinian voices are routinely marginalized, scrutinized, and silenced. #Cdnpoli

Bill C-9 isn’t about “combatting hate.” It’s about silencing dissent, policing faith, and shielding Israel from criticism. MP James Maloney 🇨🇦🇺🇦🇨🇦 the Justice Committee must reject this bill that the Government is ramming through without any community consultation. The Bloc Québécois amendment to police faith must be rejected. The Anthony Housefather amendment must be rejected. Mark Carney Bill C-9 is a mess. It needs to be rebuilt from the ground up with communities, not lobbyists. Our laws already address real hate. Thank you Olivia Chow . Raising the Palestinian flag at the City of Toronto was very personal. So many Canadians have been fighting for this historic moment. But this was never the end game. We must continue to advocate for accountability for the genocide and rebuilding Gaza. It was also gratifying that our Courts rejected the pro-Israel lobby’s attempt to block the ceremony because it reaffirms the freedom of Canadians to stand with Palestine and Gaza. It was an honour to be there and to stand with so many who have carried this cause with dignity and patience for decades. #cdnpoli #Palestine

Since October 7th, pro-Palestinian voices in Canada have faced growing intimidation. But when police show up in your home to try and suppress your social media and warn you of a criminal investigation, it's gone too far. This is blatant intimidation.
