We need to crack down on the tech companies fuelling misogynistic behaviour with their profit driven models which are harming our young people online. The Government’s Violence Against Women and Girls strategy is welcome but we need to stop the culture of misogynistic behaviour at source and amend the Online Safety Act to enforce a code of practice to protect women and girls online. One year ago today, I was elected as Esher and Walton’s first Liberal MP for over a century and first ever female MP. I promised to relentlessly stand up for the community which I am so proud to call my home, and to give local residents the representation they deserve. I’ve tried here to sum up my first year’s work in one minute … spoiler: I ran way over — and there’s so much I’ve left out but here’s a taster of the headlines… To my amazing constituents in Esher and Walton - there’s so much more to do - we’re only just getting started!

Following the Govt’s immigration announcement yesterday a care provider in my constituency has been in touch to say he will lose a third of his staff, while 80 of his 120 clients could be left without support. The Gov has failed to provide a plan for adult social care and now risks capping the number of care workers. It will exacerbate the crisis in adult social care and the NHS. The Govt must urgently confirm how they will plug the staff gap, fund adult social care properly and support care providers already struggling after the NI job tax. Liberal Democrats

Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan are among the most brutally and persistently persecuted communities, targeted simply for calling themselves Muslim. Their mosques are destroyed, their graves desecrated, their rights stripped away — this injustice cannot be ignored. The UK must use its influence with Pakistan to demand the protection of human rights: accountability for mob violence, the release of prisoners of conscience, and the restoration of basic rights. A customs union with the EU would supercharge our economy. It’s the quickest way to growth on the table - and with the Bank of England slashing its growth forecast from 1.5% to 0.75% - it’s ever more urgent. Why won’t Labour go there? I pressed the Minister on this in Parliament
