The martyred child Salma, only 5 years old: I used to see her every day selling small cakes. She was the youngest small business owner in the world, selling just five cakes a day. She worked so hard, yet she was deprived of a childhood like other children. She sold cakes, but she never sold her homeland — not at any price. I recorded this video during the harshest days of famine under the siege of northern Gaza. Yesterday, when I went to provide care for a wounded person near her family’s tent, I asked about her, eager to see her again. The moment her name was mentioned, her family began to cry in deep grief. They told me that only days earlier, she was killed when an explosive device hidden inside a toy detonated. She thought it was a toy and picked it up because she could not afford to buy one — her family was poor. She carried what she believed was a toy, but it exploded in her hands, and her small body was torn into five burned pieces. Instead of the five cakes she used to sell every day, her body was turned into five shattered fragments — the result of deadly remnants left behind, turning Gaza’s children into victims day after day. The two little girls who saw their mother being torn apart before their eyes… She was simply buying them Eid clothes. In a matter of seconds, the bags of Eid turned into blood, fragments, and screams. From the intensity of the shock, they kept repeating: “No… it’s not her… no… that’s not my mom…” How can two children comprehend that the mother who was choosing their Eid dresses just moments ago has returned to them in pieces? How is Eid slaughtered like this in Gaza? How is a mother killed in front of her daughters just because she wanted to make them happy? In Gaza… even Eid is killed. And even children are forced to grow a lifetime of fear in a single moment. What kind of world watches two little girls deny their mother’s body because the pain is too much to believe? “No… it’s not her…” But she was their mother. And her only “crime”… was wanting to buy Eid clothes for her two daughters.

The martyr Taysir Abu Ta’ima… He was injured while striving, and after his martyrdom, God revealed what had been hidden through footage captured by occupation drones, showing him passing away in prostration. May God raise him on the Day of Resurrection in the state in which he died. He was released from prison only to be devastated by the news that his entire family had been killed. There was no one waiting to receive him, no one left to embrace him. All of his family were killed. His only “fault” was that he worked as an intensive care medical provider in northern Gaza. He was imprisoned, and his family was killed in what feels like retaliation for his humanity. He is not alone—many of his colleagues have suffered similar fates, targeted, imprisoned, and having their families taken from them.What kind of pain is this? 💔 My friend and colleague in the intensive care unit at the Indonesian Hospital for several years, Dr. Ahmad, was released from prison only to find that the occupation had killed his family. 💔 What kind of injustice is this? My friend Ahmad writes: “ My beautiful family, I miss your presence… I miss holding all of you, I miss your embrace and being with you. My beloved wife Asmaa, my daughter Ghina—the soul of my heart. I left prison longing for you, my heart burning with love and anticipation to see you again. I never imagined I would be denied that reunion. I was shocked and devastated by the news. Since that day, I have been lost, numb… I have nothing left but to move between your photos. Life has no meaning without you. I ask God to accept you and to reunite us in the highest levels of Paradise. Praise be to Him for His decree and destiny. To be a family, and then to become shattered… is an unbearable feeling.” May God grant you patience, my friend, mend your broken heart, and replace your pain with a healing that eases its bitterness.
