It is crucial to address any actions that undermine the South African constitution, they must be punishable and cannot be justified under the guise of freedom of speech, Redi Tlhabi must be fined or expelled in the country if she refuses to apologize for her reckless conduct. In countries like China this will be considered terrorism or sabotage. The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) should take appropriate action in this regard. It is worth noting that Redi Tlhabi was not appointed to represent South Africa in the US, and her actions risk straining the friendship between South Africa and Russia. SA friendship with Russia is longstanding and will remain solid whether Mrs Talabi and US like it or not.
