In 1994 when the Rangers had their parade, before introducing Mark Messier, Mayor Giuliani said, “You want guys like it here, right? You want to come back here, right? Go Knicks!” Well it took 32 years but the Knicks did it!! Then a definitely-sauced Messier stepped up to the mic. “We might as well come back here next year.” Thirty-two years later, the Rangers still haven’t made it back for another Cup parade. Hopefully that changes soon. 🔵🔴🏒🏆

Happy NHL draft day! One of the wildest moments in NHL Draft history: In 1991, Eric Lindros was the consensus #1 prospect, but before the draft he told the Quebec Nordiques not to select him because he would never play for them. Quebec drafted him anyway. When his name was called, Lindros refused to put on the Nordiques jersey, holding it over his shoulder instead. He sat out for a full year rather than sign. In 1992, the standoff ended with one of the biggest trades in NHL history. Quebec sent Lindros to Philadelphia for a massive package that included Peter Forsberg, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, and two 1st-round picks. Ironically, that trade helped build the franchise that became the Colorado Avalanche, winning Stanley Cups in 1996 and 2001. 🏒🥅

Dec. 2, 2008 — Sean Avery drops the infamous ‘sloppy seconds’ line, calling out Dion Phaneuf over Elisha Cuthbert right in front of reporters. He gets suspended on the spot, the NHL releases a statement, and it instantly becomes one of the wildest moments in league history. He was the man 🤣

One day after ending the Rangers’ 54-year Stanley Cup drought, Mark Messier brought the Stanley Cup to Madison Square Garden for Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and Rockets. 32 years later, Messier is still New York royalty. Now, after ending the Knicks’ 53-year championship drought, Jalen Brunson has earned that same status. #NYR #Alwaysknicks

May 11, 2014 — Mother’s Day. Just days after losing his mom, Marty St. Louis scored and poured his heart onto the ice in one of the most emotional moments of that Stanley Cup run for the New York Rangers. Hockey felt bigger than the game that night. I was there with my dad. My mom had passed too, and he took me to this game. It was incredibly emotional, and even now, I can still feel the emotion from this goal every time I watch it. 💙 #NYR #StanleyCup #MothersDay

May 11, 2014- during the same Marty Mother’s Day game- you could see the frustration building from the Pittsburgh Penguins in game 6. A 3-1 series lead quickly turned into the Rangers favor. The New York Rangers were in their heads. Scrums after the whistle. Extra shoves. Words being exchanged. Then sneakily, Henrik Lundqvist sprayed Sidney Crosby with his water bottle. It cost Lundqvist $5,000. Worth every penny.

May 17, 2014 Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final. New York Rangers vs. Montreal Canadiens. Chris Kreider drives the net, gets tripped, and slides into Carey Price. A split-second play which turned into one of hockey’s most infamous moments. Chris Kreider lived rent-free in Montreal Canadiens fans’ heads for over a decade as they would boo him whenever the Rangers visited. #NHL #Stanleycup #Hewastripped

The #NYR aren’t that team anymore. Windows close. That’s just reality of sports. Every team gets a shot, some come close, some win. But Artemi Panarin was the best free-agent signing in Rangers history, and moments like this are the ones I’ll always hold onto. Not sure how much longer he’ll be here — but I loved every second of him as a Ranger. Take me back to these vibes.

On 9/11, the NYPD & FDNY ran toward danger while others ran away. They risked everything for strangers. 🇺🇸 It was about good vs. evil — not Democrat vs. Republican. We must never forget: we are the United States of America. On Oct. 7, 2001, the Rangers & Sabres opened the first pro game since 9/11, paying tribute to New York’s courage, resilience, and unity.

May 13, 2015 The New York Rangers defeat the Capitals in 7 games to move onto the ECF for the second consecutive year. “Drive by Girardi and a save, rebound SCORE! Stepan in overtime, the Rangers move onto Tampa!” What a moment. Missing Zuccarello in the ECF really hurt us. Little did we know, this was the beginning of the end to the Lundqvist era. #NHL #Hockey #Stanleycup #NYR 💙❤️
