NEWS: Tesla's fleet has now driven 12 billion miles on Full Self-Driving The count passed 12 billion this week, just a month after hitting 11 billion on June 9. About 4.5 billion of those miles were on city streets. The pace is speeding up fast. The fleet now adds around 30 million miles a day, up from 14 million a day at the start of the year. Each new billion is arriving quicker than the last. Why this number matters. Elon Musk has said Tesla needs roughly 10 billion miles of real driving data to make self-driving safe enough to run unsupervised. The fleet is now well past that and the data trains the system to handle rare, tricky situations. Tesla's own safety report says cars on FSD have one major crash every 5.3 million miles, versus one every 660,000 for the average US driver. FSD is still a supervised system. NEWS: Billionaire investor Ron Baron has placed a $1 billion order for SpaceX IPO shares and says he is not selling in his lifetime. Baron, the founder and CEO of Baron Capital, laid out his case on a client call. His firm has put about $2 billion into SpaceX across 27 employee tender rounds since 2017, a position now worth roughly $15 billion after compounding at 54% per year. He believes SpaceX, coming public at under $2 trillion, will reach $10 trillion to $30 trillion within 10 to 15 years and become the largest, most profitable company on the planet. People inside the company tell him he is lowballing it. On Starlink alone, Baron projects 300 million subscribers and about $1 trillion in annual revenue within a decade, making it worth around $14 trillion on its own.

NEWS: Tesla has built an automated cleaning robot into its Austin Robotaxi Hub, a state permit shows Texas permit TABS2025022006 lists a cleaning robot directly in its scope of work. It sits alongside Supercharger cabinets and an equipment inspection system. The hub finished construction in March. The permit is now closed. Tesla teased this system in early 2025. It is a robotic arm with swappable attachments that vacuums seats and floors, wipes the touchscreen and even grabs items riders leave behind. This solves a real robotaxi problem. A driverless fleet has no driver to clean the car between rides. The cleaning robot is one piece of a fully automated hub. Cars return, get inspected, recharge and get cleaned without a person involved. The car drives itself. Now the hub cleans itself.

NEWS: SpaceX just made its AI space computer 67% more powerful, Elon Musk says The satellite is called AI1. It is basically a data center that floats in space and runs on sunlight instead of the power grid. Musk says its peak power is going up to ~250 kW, from 150 kW. Its average power is going up to 160 kW, from 120 kW. Why the boost. A single Nvidia Rubin NVL72 rack, 72 of Nvidia's newest AI chips, needs that much power to run. The bigger number means one AI1 can now handle a full rack. Musk's reasoning is simple. A GPU running all day uses about two-thirds of its peak power, even when it is very efficient. So the satellite has to be built for the peak. AI1 works with chips from any maker, not just Nvidia. SpaceX has filed to launch up to 1 million of these satellites. (Source: Elon Musk on X, July 16)

NEWS: A Tesla Model Y driver having a heart attack survived because his son remotely rerouted the car to a hospital using FSD Supervised. The driver felt chest pain mid-drive and called his son. His son guided the car through the Tesla app to the nearest hospital. He also called the hospital so ER staff were waiting on arrival. Doctors later said the quick reroute likely saved his life. Tesla shared the story on its official North America account. FSD Supervised drives the car while requiring the human driver to stay attentive.

Adam Jonas, Morgan Stanley's global embodied AI and robotics strategist, laid out the model on CNBC. He says SpaceX is simpler to model than people expect. Three businesses stack on each other. Launch buys pole position, which Jonas calls real estate in low Earth orbit. That position made Starlink possible. Starlink runs near 50% margins and throws off the cash. The third leg is AI, which barely existed a year ago. Jonas models it as revenue per watt. Then comes the bill. He models close to $700 billion of outside funding, about $84 billion a year, with SpaceX not cash flow positive for roughly a decade. Jonas did not soften the risks. He told viewers to expect an anomaly, an explosion and a very bad day for the stock. He named adversaries in orbit, space debris, AI competition and key man risk. On whether the engineering is the hard part, Jonas said "I'm tempted to say it's not rocket science, but it actually is." Fun fact. Jonas met Elon Musk in 2008, at SpaceX. He has said the meeting rewired him. NEWS: Anthropic is paying SpaceX about $15 billion a year for AI compute, longtime SpaceX backer Ron Baron told CNBC. That's $1.25 billion every month through May 2029. Anthropic uses SpaceX's Colossus supercomputer near Memphis. The deal was first disclosed in SpaceX's IPO filing in May. It could bring SpaceX over $40 billion in total revenue. SpaceX booked $18.7 billion in revenue in all of 2025.

SpaceX raised just $9 billion to build its space and connectivity business. In 2025 alone it generated roughly $19 billion in revenue, up over 30%, with almost $7 billion in positive adjusted EBITDA. Starlink ended Q1 with 10.3 million users, up over 100% year over year. Its 9,600+ satellites represent 75% of all active maneuverable satellites in orbit. V3 satellites fly in the second half of this year. Each delivers roughly 1 terabit per second, a 20x jump in capacity per launch. On AI, Johnsen said orbital data centers are coming within the next couple of years and that SpaceX recently signed a deal to host Anthropic's models on its data centers. Long term, SpaceX is targeting roughly 70% gross margins and 45% net income margins against a $28 trillion addressable market.

Each satellite runs AI compute in orbit and beams results to Earth through Starlink lasers. The satellites draw constant solar power and cool for free in the vacuum. SpaceX filed that plan with the FCC in January. The first satellite, AI1, carries 150 kW of peak compute and spans 70 meters. Starship will carry 30 to 50 AI1 satellites per launch.
