Meat bird processing day, week 2 edition. This second group was about 80 chickens, and it was an all day affair, but overall went really well. The packaged chickens turned out great and averaged about 4 lbs 5 ounces per finished bird.

Price break down of our meat birds. We had our first one tonight and it was delicious. We are excited for our next batch of 150 to arrive and start the process over again.

We have been feeding our pigs restaurant food scraps. They are really enjoying the pizza and spaghetti.

If you want to process your own chickens, a plucker is probably the best investment. This thing works wonders and saves you a lot of time!

We did about 50 birds today. We picked all the bigger ones and are going to let the rest grow for another week. They are technically not even 8 weeks old yet, but the ones we did had a perfect weight (at least, for us). Most were right around 4.5 lbs after processing.
