I debated sharing but don't think I'd be true to myself if I didn't. Last week, I lost my mom after a lifelong struggle with addiction & mental health 💔 She was only 56 years old. Despite all the challenges she faced, one of the most important things she taught me was to care about people & to speak up for what I believe in, even when it's easier not to. That lesson is a big part of why I care so deeply about Ukraine, why I'm a public school teacher, and why I stand so strongly against cruelty, oppression, and indifference. My mom was more than her mental illness and addiction. She was a compassionate, deeply human person who helped shape the woman I've become today. I just hope I can make her and my dad proud up there ❤️
