The City’s plan to relocate South African citizens who live at the Plastic View Informal Settlement are ongoing. A site was identified in Pretorius Park. The informal Settlement has a large number of foreign nationals and that has complicated efforts for relocation. We are in constant contact with Home Affairs and the South African Police Service about finalising the relocation process and the removal of illegal immigrants. City of Tshwane

There’s a video circulating on social media alleging that TMPD officers were caught taking a bribe from an arrested foreign national. After gathering the facts on the matter, we want to inform residents that the storyline portrayed on social media isn’t true. The TMPD officers were conducting routine searches on suspects following their apprehension during a #ReASpana service delivery operation in Winterveld. Searching suspects is part of the job. The officers and the arrested suspect, who remains in jail, confirmed that the money was returned. Residents of Tshwane, we take allegations of corruption seriously in this city and any wrongdoing will not go unpunished. However, in instances where our officers do the best to serve the city, we must show appreciation. We thank the officers for serving #ReASpana with distinction. This afternoon, we conducted a bylaw enforcement operation in Pretoria West targeting illegally constructed buildings owned by George Asaba, a Nigerian national. The properties are non-compliant and were built without approval, with illegal connections to both water and electricity. Officials found that cement had been poured over illegal cabling to prevent its removal, and the city's electrical power box had been removed from outside and placed inside the yard. Approximately 40 student accommodation rooms were also found to be under construction on the site. Residents of Tshwane, this afternoon the Tshwane Metro Police Department’s Drug Unit arrested a 22-year-old Nigerian national who was caught with drugs worth R250,000 in Olievenhoutbosch. This man is based in Johannesburg but he was arrested in Tshwane because of the work done by TMPD’s Drug Unit. In past few weeks, we’ve showcased the work performed by TMPD’s Drug Unit across the city. We are dedicated to supporting their work. Residents of Mahube Valley, today we identified a spaza shop run by foreign nationals that was illegally built on a municipal sewer line. In addition, all trading certificates found on site were fraudulent. We’ve shutdown the spaza shop, and removed all the signage to prevent this shop from operating.
