Today, the first 238 members of the Venezuelan criminal organization, Tren de Aragua, arrived in our country. They were immediately transferred to CECOT, the Terrorism Confinement Center, for a period of one year (renewable). The United States will pay a very low fee for them, but a high one for us. Over time, these actions, combined with the production already being generated by more than 40,000 inmates engaged in various workshops and labor under the Zero Idleness program, will help make our prison system self-sustainable. As of today, it costs $200 million per year. On this occasion, the U.S. has also sent us 23 MS-13 members wanted by Salvadoran justice, including two ringleaders. One of them is a member of the criminal organization’s highest structure. This will help us finalize intelligence gathering and go after the last remnants of MS-13, including its former and new members, money, weapons, drugs, hideouts, collaborators, and sponsors. As always, we continue advancing in the fight against organized crime. But this time, we are also helping our allies, making our prison system self-sustainable, and obtaining vital intelligence to make our country an even safer place. All in a single action. Ahora entiendo el porqué de sus críticas al CECOT: se estaba anticipando a esto. Siempre es lo mismo; todos los que defienden delincuentes terminan teniendo una agenda oscura detrás. Por cierto, la oferta sigue abierta. Si decide llevárselos, definitivamente la pasarán mejor en sus cárceles.

Hace unas semanas, un grupo de “expertos y expertas”, financiados por Open Society (Soros), acudió a la CIDH y a la ONU a, básicamente, pedir la liberación del 100% de los pandilleros arrestados durante el régimen de excepción. Estos videos fueron vistos por el pueblo salvadoreño, lo que generó un fuerte rechazo hacia todas las ONG, “periodistas” y políticos que apoyaron el informe. Fue un desastre de relaciones públicas para las organizaciones de supuesta defensa de los derechos humanos. Sin embargo, al ver la reacción y ser cuestionados por la gente, su excusa fue que no defendían a terroristas, sino a supuestos inocentes. Así que decidieron intentarlo otra vez, esta vez ante el Congreso de los Estados Unidos. El plan era presentar al Gobierno de El Salvador como un violador de derechos humanos. Sin embargo, les salió peor: cuando les preguntaron directamente si estaban de acuerdo en que la MS-13 es una organización terrorista, no pudieron responder, y luego afirmaron que, independientemente de los crímenes cometidos, ellos estaban ahí para defender los derechos de esas personas. It’s interesting to see how so many media outlets, politicians, and representatives of international NGOs lie so blatantly about El Salvador. Anyone who has visited our country knows that tattoos are not only allowed, but very common. Many Salvadorans have them, even in highly visible areas: full sleeves, face, neck, hands, etc. It’s simply not true that people are required to cover them up. It’s also false that tattoo artists have been arrested. There are hundreds of tattoo shops, and many are now doing better than ever, since they can stay open late without being extorted by gangs. Tattoos aren’t even socially frowned upon. On the contrary, many people see them as body art and a form of personal expression. What is prohibited are gang symbols, but not just in tattoos. They are banned in any form: on walls, in the media, even on graves. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. In Europe, Nazi symbols are banned, and no one is outraged by it. In fact, we only restricted them in the media for one year (during the height of the war on gangs) and they are allowed again now. Yet we were scolded by the “international community” for that temporary measure, while Nazi symbols have been prohibited in Europe for 80 years. So which is it? What is acceptable for them is not acceptable for us? The European argument is that banning those symbols is necessary to prevent a return to a past they do not want to relive. Well, that is our argument too.
