NEW FUTURECAST: Ride along with the progression of the major winter storm. It will come in two "waves" with a definite "lull" in between. Some may think not expecting the lull the forecast was wrong. The break is expected. Northward extent of sleet remains trickiest part of the entire thing. A place like Nashville I think is not going to get much of any snow, if any would be right at the onset. It's an ice (sleet) storm there. Also, do we have to watch for a marginal severe storm threat (wind, tornado) in south Alabama, Florida Panhandle, SW Georgia Sunday? Looks to me maybe.

This one was a doozy, and will be remembered for a long time. Sadly the fatalities are over 5 now from this storm. The sleet line was a tricky forecast for sure. Major ice storm from Louisiana to middle Tennessee. Indianapolis got over 11" of snow -- biggest snowstorm since 2014. 15 states got 12"+ of snow.

FIRST LOOK at the FOX Weather Model for the beginning parts of this historic winter storm this weekend. Snow, ice, impacts start late Friday. I have not seen models this locked in and consistent on a major winter storm this far out in a long time. It is not hype. The ice storm aspect of this in Texas to Alabama will be major to locally extreme impact.

Big time snow storm for many of these areas Saturday of Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Many of these areas well over a year's average worth of snow. Would be worried for a potential dry slot around Raleigh though between the upper level low and developing surface low. Highest confidence is along the I-95 corridor beaches for big snow totals!

What a video! A confirmed waterspout from over Silver Lake in central Florida Monday evening. Had it not rained until 3PM and more sunshine today we maybe would have had several tornadoes hit. Wind shear was strong aloft. 📷: Debbie Potter | Leesburg, FL FOX 35 Orlando Amy Kaufeldt FOX 35 Brooks Garner Meteorologist Laurel Blanchard T.J. Springer Jessica Dobson
