Software Engineers Smriti Jain from UP and her partner Shanu Kumar from Bihar were arrested by Jaisalmer Police from Delhi for making obscene video of a 70 years old Shepherd in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The couple went there as a tourist and called the old Shepherd on the pretext of asking directions. When the Shepherd came closer the nude woman sitting in the car came out and asked the old man to touch her. The old Man first hesitated but later touched her body parts after being insisted by the couple again and again. Her partner filmed the entire incident and later they blurred the face of Smriti and posted the video on porn sites and social media. After the video became viral people started harassing the old Man and he became infamous as Jaisalmer ka Tharki Baba. The incident raises serious questions about consent and sexual harassment of Man as a Gender. Unfortunately Laws on Rape and Sexual Assault in India are not Gender Neutral and in our country only a woman is considered as the victim of any kind of sexual harassment or assault.

26-year-old Engineering Graduate Akash Delison from Krishnarajapuram in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu died because of torture and assault inside the custody of Tamil Nadu Police in March this year. For over 100 days, his dead body remained in the mortuary of Madurai’s Government Rajaji Hospital as his parents refused to perform his last rites until the guilty police officers were arrested. Later authorities cremated his body on 17th June under a Madras High Court order, despite protests from his family. Now, Parents of Akash were detained after they attempted to breach Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's convoy in a frantic bid to stop the chief minister's convoy, apparently to petition him. Needless to add that no Policemen responsible for the murder of Akash were arrested even after 6 months of the incident. What other options do these helpless parents are having to demand Justice For their Son PS: Tamil Nadu is a notorious state for custodial death and Police brutality.
