Lama Awad, a Syrian girl, was visiting the Damascus International Fair when she saw her brother’s name, “Anas Awad,” written on the door of a prison cell from one of the prisons run by Assad’s criminal regime, displayed at the fair. She asked if she could keep the door. How deeply we, as Syrians, have been wounded. Some wounds are so deep that they may take generations to heal. What Assad did to us is not something we will simply forget or move on from. The pain, the loss, and the memories will remain with us for generations to come. Our wounds run deep. Very deep.

the first official trial of figures accused of crimes under the Assad regime, Atef Najeeb appeared behind bars in a courtroom at the Palace of Justice in Damascus. 18+ : Dozens of bodies of Syrian detainees have been found from Sednaya Prison in Harasta Hospital. The hospital is filled with bodies of those executed or tortured to death, many of whom remain unidentified. Rescue teams there urgently need assistance to search for detainees in secret prisons whose locations are unknown to us.
