A dark little #leopard surprise was hauled out of a tank as this this black beauty emerged with his other 2 siblings that had fallen in. Among leopards, a rare genetic mutation can lead to melanism, producing individuals with striking dark & black (ish!) coats. This trio was rescued by the Satara FD, the RESQ CT (Pune) team was called in to reunite them manually with their mother - which happened successfully! Early morning leopard call mobilized RESQ Charitable Trust Pune Forest पिंपरी चिंचवड पोलीस - Pimpri Chinchwad Police पोलीस आयुक्त - पिंपरी चिंचवड शहर PCMC Fire Service for a rescue in Patil Nagar, PCMC culminating in the successful rescue of a young male leopard that had strayed in the bustling locality of Chikali, PCMC. Responding to a sighting near a wood storage shed, teams tracked the leopard it through to a cattle shed and into a jowar field between the houses. This rescue presented a complex scenario due to the dense vegetation being closely interspaced between residential setting. Out of the numerous stories of animals rescued today by Tuhin Satarkar harshad nagare and the RESQ Charitable Trust team, this story is something else! A lady from PCMC was refusing to get out of her house (when everyone else around had evacuated) until the 15 animals she took in (14 dogs and 1 cat she had locked up with herself) had been taken to safety. In a race against time, the RESQ CT team joined forces with the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department to save a Bengal tigress in distress. Ensnared in the Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) - India's largest tiger reserve, the tigress faced a critical situation. 🐆 Not too far from Pune, a young leopard cub took an unintended plunge into a well. Quickly rescued using a trap cage, we convinced the locals to allow us to attempt a reunion at the spot. Overcoming challenges, including a manual pulley operation and staying camouflaged 800 meters away, the cub was monitored thru the cams anxiously. Thankfully for this cub, the reunion was purr-fectly quick. The skies celebrated with us — nature's nod of approval, the heavens opened up with rain just as the two were reunited and the cub was back in it's mothers embrace. (whew!) As climate changes, so does the natural disturbance regime. The frequency and intensity of extreme weather events has been increasing affecting scores of wildlife over last few years. A century old banyan tree came crashing down in Solapur due to stormy winds and along with that hundreds of birds - painted storks and herons nesting on them. Some adults, older fledglings and sub-adults made their way to safety but many perished, and many suffered injuries or are now orphans. RESQ CT RESQ Charitable Trust team and Solapur FD worked together to extract as many as possible. There are ones beyond help, but there are over 56 who have a great chance of going back post rehabilitation. We had a terribly long night stabilising them yesterday one by one, and we anticipate a few months of cacophony ahead (for whoever knows the noise these buggers can make!). Animals are resilient, they will (and have no choice but to!) adapt with changes in the environment over time. But for the ones that are still coping now - the goal for now is to rescue, rehabilitate and reintroduce! #wildliferescue #indiaves

This #Python really beat the odds. The way the metal wire was embedded in his body - bizarre! Rescued by Chiplun Forest Department officers, operated and rehabilitated at RESQ TTC, Pune..finally released back where he came from! Wild animals survive the most unreal scenarios if provided help in time.

Every single successful wild reunion is one less cub saved from going into lifetime captivity. After 3 days of tracking, multiple set ups, patiently waiting for hours..at 4:30 am the leopard mom finally arrived, called out for her cub, and our teams opened up the door of the cage to reunite the separated! Gaur strays into a dense industrial area at Taloja MIDC Panvel. The Panvel Forest Department responded immediately and swung into action by limiting movement in the area to ensure no untoward incident. With no option to provide it safe passage, the Panvel Forest Department alerted the RESQ CT team to respond at the location to assist them in translocating him to a safer place. Our team reached there at 5 pm and immediately begun strategising the best option to capture him with minimal stress. Lucky for us all, he moved into a secure factory premise, limiting his movement and preventing any potential harm to himself or public. During this time, a ramp was constructed with the help of a JCB to facilitate its entry into a large truck that was enriched quickly to make it look green and conducive luring him in. Once everything was in place, the #Gaur was driven towards it. He cooperated incredibly as he walked right in and stayed calm. The teams immediately set off on their road journey to release in a safe habitat. The rescue and release process went off smoothly with absolutely no complications, all thanks to the incredible coordination between the Forest Department and RESQ team on ground. As we had done several training and awareness sessions together, teamwork last evening was like dream work! In the end, what we are happiest about is the minimal stress the animal was put through in the entire process that was managed like clockwork! #wildlife #wildliferescue #Maharashtra
