The largest free-flying American flag in the world is on the George Washington Bridge today for the 4th of July 🇺🇸 connecting Manhattan to New Jersey. Since 1947 or 1948, the bridge has flown the world's largest free-flying American flag on special occasions. Hung inside the arch of the New Jersey tower, it measures 90 feet long, 60 feet wide, and weighs 450 pounds. When weather allows, the American flag is hoisted on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day. Since 2006, the flag is also flown on September 11 of each year, honoring those lost in the September 11 attacks. The High Line Hotel, located at 20th Street and 10th Avenue, is a great spot to relax with a coffee, tea, or snack, and it’s a convenient place to use the restroom, too. 🏨 History & Background •Constructed in 1895 as student housing (dormitories) for the General Theological Seminary, the building was designed in Collegiate Gothic style by architect Charles C. Haight. It replaced an apple orchard once owned by Clement Clarke Moore, the author of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”. •The land had earlier been part of Moore’s estate before being donated to the Episcopal Church in the 1820s. •Financial pressures led the Seminary to sell this building in 2012; it was transformed into The High Line Hotel, which officially opened in May 2013, under the ownership of Brodsky Organization and MCR Hotels. What I saw today in the Oculus at World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan wasn’t just sunlight, it was memory made visible. Two parallel columns of light stretched across the floor, quietly echoing the Twin Towers. It reminded me of the annual moment on September 11th, when sunlight passes perfectly through the skylight here at 10:28 a.m., the time the second tower fell, flooding the space with light in a silent tribute. Today wasn’t that day. And yet, the shadows appeared. A quiet reminder that even when it’s not marked on the calendar, this city remembers. In the design, in the light, in the everyday. Some memories are built right into the walls , and they show up when we least expect them, asking us to pause, look down, and reflect. New York City

I’ll show you the amazing energy here…the lights, the buzz of excitement, and people enjoying themselves. Notice what we don’t see: no gangs, no chaotic scenes. There’s just a dynamic crowd of locals and visitors alike, everyone soaking up the moment in the heart of NYC. As the holidays approach, I’ve been getting messages from people who are concerned about visiting New York City at Christmastime because of the negative news they’re hearing. The way some portray the city is discouraging, but I want to show you the real, vibrant, and welcoming NYC.

Certain people are always telling me to show the NYC subway. Assuming I don’t because the request is from the people who think it’s “too dangerous to show”. I show it all the time on Facebook. So here it is. Tonight at 11:30 pm at 125th St in Harlem. I take the subway every day… morning, noon, and late night. It’s the only way I travel around New York City. It’s the reason many of us don’t have cars, such as myself.
