In 2006, O’Melveny client Avenue Capital bought distressed loans from state-owned China Cinda (中国信达), part of a reported $1 BILLION buying spree at steep discounts. Who set the prices? Who pocketed the profits? Miles Guo exposed what he described as a CCP kleptocratic scheme: Label valuable public assets “nonperforming”; sell them cheaply to Western funds; funnel the wealth offshore to CCP kleptocrats’ illegitimate children. 2026.10.21 (EP74) HKICIM: FOLLOW THE MONEY BEHIND CCP KLEPTOCRACY! Sold to HNA. Pledged to PAG. Bought back by Blackstone. In 2016, Blackstone sold Tysan Holdings to HNA, which renamed it HKICIM. Miles Guo identified HKICIM as a key player in what he described as Wang Qishan’s money-laundering, fraud, and insider-trading network, involving Tianjin Bohai and nearly 60 listed companies. In 2018, HNA pledged 41% of HKICIM to PAG Holdings. Weeks later, Blackstone invested in PAG. In 2019, Blackstone bought control back for about $900 million. Guo warned: What he exposed was just one snowflake on the vast iceberg of CCP kleptocracy.

Then, in 2016, BHR helped China Molybdenum secure a major stake in one of the world’s largest cobalt mines, after the White House had already challenged Beijing’s control of critical minerals at the WTO. With help from within, Beijing turned America’s strategic choke points into weapons of control.

In an October 14, 2020 GTV post, he connected HNA, Bohai Capital, UPenn’s China-linked donations, and the Bidens. The money moved. The trail remained.

In late 2020, GTV’s banking records mysteriously surfaced in PAX’s judgment enforcement demands. Investigator CGI pointed to a secret Chinese source, then a CCP-linked Duowei blog. GTV demanded answers. Judge Ostrager denied discovery. On October 14, 2021, Cahill announced Moss as a partner, one month after GTV’s SEC settlement. Five days later, Moss appeared as PAX’s attorney, at the very firm that had represented GTV. Moss changed firms. Not sides. He kept pursuing Guo, from inside GTV’s former law firm.

In 2015, BHR teamed up with AVIC, a Chinese state aviation giant later listed by the Pentagon as a military company, to buy Henniges Automotive and its sensitive defense technology. AVIC took 51%. BHR took 49%. The warning signs were everywhere: stolen Joint Strike Fighter data linked to AVIC in 2007 and the 2014 indictment of a CCP operative for stealing data on the C-17, F-22, and F-35. Yet the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) approved the deal.
