As the Irish Govt buckles to the Unions, I am reminded of one of my favourite & most iconic political speeches from Lee Kuan Yew. Singapore Airlines Pilot Association enforced a work-to-rule demanding 30% pay increase, during 1980 elections. Lee gave them a blunt choice: immediately halt the industrial action and get back to work, or he would ground Singapore Airlines, fire every pilot, and rebuild the national carrier from scratch! “Whoever governs Singapore must have that Iron in him, or give it up!” “This is not a game of cards. It is your life & mine” “I spent my whole life building this, and as long as I’m in charge nobody is going to knock it down” This is what Real Leadership looks like:

Day 7: Still no mainstream coverage of new Dublin City Housing statistics. Yet just two months ago, Simon Harris spoke to journalists directly on this. He called claims that non-Irish applicants get social housing first “disinformation”: “It’s disinformation. It’s unhelpful, unfair and untrue.” “I don’t see the benefit in nationality as an instrument.” “Can you provide any evidence, or can anybody provide any evidence, that people of different nationalities to Irish people are getting a home quicker than an Irish person…? I’d really welcome that.” … any chance the establishment would like to revisit this in light of fact that 9% of the housing list is Somalian Or that 1 in 3 houses is are going to non-Irish?

Great interview: Elon Musk gets properly challenged by The Economist. “Do you support the far right?” “Are you anti-Muslim?” “People say that you’re a racist.” Musk: “Secure borders. Safe cities. Sensible spending. Which of those three are far-right or fringe?” fascinating and heated exchange. Credit to Zanny Minton Beddoes: she lets Musk make his argument & then challenges him directly. Ireland’s Childcare Crisis A few facts: Between 2020 and 2025, more than €8 billion was allocated to the Department of Children. Most of this money went towards migrant hotels that operate at 50%+ profit margin. Companies linked to Séamus “Banty” McEnaney and his family have reportedly received more than €300million. Since 2016, Ireland’s last three Ministers for Children have not had children themselves. The Govt promised to reduce full-time childcare fees to approximately €200 per month. Delivering that commitment is estimated to require an additional €300 to €500 million per year. Ireland currently allocates approximately: €1.5 billion a year to childcare Which is half the amount, €3 billion, they allocate to asylum, refugee and Ukrainian-related accommodation and supports Normal people have no idea how badly our finances are being run.

This is the new owner of the old paint factory in Coolock. 🚨 Meet Peter McGarry, He’s from Kildare, but lives in Switzerland for tax reasons. 🤓🇨🇭 He likes to virtue-signal online about his electric Land Rover and his “Earth Foundation”. But he doesn’t mention his actual business of housing asylum seekers for maximum profit To be fair to Peter though he doesn’t seem like the brains behind the operation. My suspicion is he the junior partner…. 🧵
