Sunny Hostin attacks South Carolina for Darline Graham being their first female senator, and says there's something "fundamentally wrong" with the state. She suggests doctors can't be senators. She and Joy Behar call the appointment "the very definition of a DEI [hire]" and an example of how "our government is fundamentally broken": SUNNY HOSTIN: I don't love it. I don't love it. You know, she'll be the first woman to be a U.S. senator in South Carolina in his the history of the state. And I think that that's just -- it's just fundamentally wrong that South Carolina just couldn't elect a woman and this is the only way that it was done. I think the experience does matter. And while she is a certified optician and while she has done great work in that field, I don't think that she should be representing the people of South Carolina in the U.S. Senate. I just don't. JOY BEHAR: It's this the very definition of a DEI? SUNNY HOSTIN: Correct! correct! It's everything that the Republican Party stands against! Everything! Everything! [Applause] It's DEI. Nepotism. All these things thrown in together. And, you know, at this very same time Pete Hegseth blocked more promotions for women in particular for women of color to become admirals. And so this is happening. I feel like our government is fundamentally broken and I just -- I disagree -- I disagree with this. BEHAR: I agree with you. It's not like taking over your mother's job at McDonald's. HOSTIN: Yeah, it's not. BEHAR: You're running -- HOSTIN: It's the U.S. Senate. BEHAR: You're in government. You have to know what you're doing. ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: You guys are putting too much stock in who's currently in Congress. WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Yeah, you got a point.

Ana Navarro scolds those who are celebrating the death of Senator Lindsey Graham: ANA NAVARRO: First thing I want to say is, I saw a lot of posts online this week kind of celebrating his death and rejoicing. And listen, I know that Trump does that, he did it with Bob Mueller, he did it with John McCain -- SARA HAINES: He did it with Rob Reiner. NAVARRO: He did it with Rob Reiner. But it's inhumane and it's really lacking empathy. And the dead person is dead and can't hear you and can't read your posts, but his family, his sister who he adopted when he was 13 because both of their parents died is alive and is hearing it. And so I think that for the benefit, for humanity, for having, you know, a normal decency towards the family of the dead, that just has to stop. The fact that Donald Trump is indecent doesn't mean the rest of us have to do it.

Jill Biden falsely claims Hunter Biden only had 1 child, a boy: "Hunter is doing so great and he's sober. He has a beautiful child, I mean, yes, thank you. Who's named beau. He named his son after Beau and Beau named his son after Hunter. Just shows the bond."

Some of what The View had to say about Charlie Kirk's assassination: ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: I hope it doesn't have a chilling effect whether you're left or right on your ability to speak your mind. I know the one thing we all agree about on this table, we all share our viewpoints, and we should be able to do that without fear. JOY BEHAR: Well, that's our bread and butter here. So, of course, it's very important. I agree with everything you say. SARA HAINES: Well also, we don't all align with his views, what I deeply aligned with is he said, 'when we stop talking, that's when things get bad.' The irony of a man who would go across the country to college campuses is where you're supposed to have conversations would go and his series was called "Prove me wrong." He would talk to people openly who disagreed. It's what we try to exemplify every day and say this is what we need more of.

Ta-Nehisi Coates suggests he's not above taking part in an October 7-style attack: "And I grow up under that oppression and that poverty and the wall comes down. Am I also strong enough or even constructed in such a way where I say this is too far, I don't know that I am."

Whoopi Goldberg admits Disney and ABC News's The View is platform to promote Democrat talking points: STEPHEN A. SMITH: [Y]ou're talking about what he's doing. But before you brought that up you brought up the message that the Democratic Party was disseminating. I'm challenging you on that. That is not what they were doing. WHOOPI: Oh, yes, it was. I was here. We did it.

The View is SHOCKED to learn from guest co-host Sara Eisen (an actual financial expert) that the markets are actually doing good and actually like Trump as president: GOLDBERG: Later after we do what we're supposed to do I do want to ask you about the market. EISEN: Please. GOLDBER: Because it seems that the market doesn't really pay attention to who is president. The market does what it does. EISEN: Actually the market likes who's president, I think. GOLBERG: Really? HOSTIN: Oh, interesting. EISEN: There's a lot of upbeat sentiment from companies. GOLDBERG: Ah. EISEN: And from investors about policies that are helpful for growth. You know, deregulation. HOSTIN: Do you think the tariffs are helpful for growth? EISEN: The tariffs usually wouldn't be helpful for growth but they're not as bad as everybody expected. HOSTIN: But they're not good. BEHAR: It helps for rich people. It doesn't help poor people or middle income people. EISEN: Fair. But, you know, when the tariffs were announced everyone thought it would be massive inflation and the market would fall apart and the economy and it hasn't. BEHAR: Not yet. EISEN: Some companies have absorbed it. You know what? They've never been more profitable right now, but they also like the tax bill.

"Well then, I'm the problem!" Sunny Hostin doubles down on her support for Platner despite the sexual assault allegations and plays whataboutism: SARA HAINES: It is the disgusting time in politics where we decide what we're willing to morally accept based on the jersey you're wearing. And if you were one of those people that was willing to plug your nose, you're the problem. HOSTIN: Well then, I'm the problem! Because I was one of those people and I said it, if I lived in Maine I would have, you know, plugged my nose and would have voted for him anyway. I think we are in a time of existential crisis in this country and I think Republicans fall in line. They don't fall in love. Democrats want to fall in love and not fall in line. You know, the Republican Party, the bar is so very low, I can't believe, I cannot believe that they want to try to assume the moral high ground on the Republican Party. I mean, you know, you can miss me with all of that especially when you have Pete Hegseth who was confirmed by the Senate in 2025 as the head -- as a cabinet member, as the defense secretary when he had one drinking allegation. His sister-in-law, his sister-in-law submitted a sworn affidavit describing his drinking problem. And in order to get confirmed he pledged he wouldn't drink on the job. Number two, he had a tattoo controversy. Not one, but two tattoo controversies, one was a Deus Vult tattoo, which is used by white nationalist groups. Two, he had - has a Jerusalem Cross tattoo which has been interpreted as an extremist symbol. And finally, in 2017 a woman claimed he had sexually assaulted her after a conference. She reported that assault immediately, she had a sexual assault examination, and in 2020 and he says it was a consensual encounter. And in to 2020 he paid her $50,000 to settle the claim yet, yet. FARAH GRIFFIN: Why not condemn them all? Because I condemn them all. HOSTIN: Yet -yet. Well, but the Republicans didn't do that. [Crosstalk] HOSTIN: The republicans confirmed him and he is the - [Crosstalk] FARAH GRIFFIN: Well, I'm a Republican right here condemning anyone who's been credibly accused of sexual abuse, they shouldn't be - HOSTIN: I'm talking about the Republican Party as a whole. They are the Epstein file protection party and - FARAH GRIFFIN: You'd be comfortable still voting for Graham Platner if you lived in Maine? HOSTIN: They do not get to take the moral high ground.
