INEC is neutral. They've never intimidated anybody. If political opponents are crying wolf, maybe they're afraid of their own shadows and the uncertainties in the company they keep, not me - President Tinubu spoke to a delegation of Catholic Bishops who visited him at the Presidential Villa

I returned all the mission schools to the church during my tenure as Lagos State Governor. One of you, Cardinal Anthony Okogie, is alive to testify to that. But the schools are in the states. Preach to them, the governors of your states. They do the job. There is no need for a constitutional amendment for that. - President Tinubu declined the request of the Catholic Bishops to consider the return of mission schools, redirecting the bishops to engage the state governors.

When Buhari got the ticket, there was an issue with campaign funding, and Buhari was not a money person. So Timipre Sylva and I went to see one of the big-time rich people and held the meeting on his yacht because the man didn't want to be seen with Buhari's people. After the meeting, he agreed to support Buhari with funds, but while coming out of the yacht, a police officer saw us. Timipre was worried that the meeting would get to Jonathan’s ears, and it did. The man was summoned to Abuja and threatened, and that was how we lost that funding. That was when we went to Tinubu and explained the issue to him. Through him, we raised sufficient funds to run Buhari's campaign. Not only that, Osinbajo ran a separate campaign from Buhari, and it was also funded by Tinubu. Bola also hired consultants from America who were doing professional work on Buhari's image. They were the same people who ran Obama's campaign, and I know that cost him over N2 billion. Whenever there was a need for expenditure, he didn't go to the campaign purse. He spent from his own purse. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

El-Rufai and Tinubu were never friends. It got to a stage where El-Rufai went to Lagos and tried to undermine Tinubu at a conference where he boasted about dealing with godfathers - Former SGF Babachir Lawal spoke on claims that El-Rufai led the Northern governors to support Tinubu in 2023

On the day of the APC convention in 2014, the North West was supporting Kwankwaso and Atiku while the South West was waiting for Tinubu's direction. The South East was supporting Okorocha, and he was likely to win the presidential ticket based on our numbers. So we decided to visit Governor Nyako and Governor Wamakko to convince them to support Buhari. They didn't listen much, so we went to Tinubu at night. We met with him, showed him the data on Buhari's previous votes in the North, and convinced him to align the South West with Buhari. That night, Bola didn't sleep. He went back to Governor Nyako and Governor Wamakko and persuaded both to support Buhari. That was when we got the North West votes back for Buhari. At the convention, Buhari had the North West and South West and picked up votes from other zones while the other candidates split the remaining votes. So anytime Buhari complained about Tinubu, I would bring up the history, and Buhari, being a man of conscience, would agree. The complaints were about Tinubu's upbringing and education. He had access to files on Tinubu, but I told him, "You knew all this when you asked for his support, and he gave it to us. So why bite the finger that fed us?" Buhari agreed and changed. I was one of the people who knew firsthand what Tinubu did to facilitate Buhari's presidency, and I never let Buhari forget it. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

President Tinubu was an excellent human being before he became president. If you're in a problem, he'll go to whatever length to solve it. He was a good listener, took advice, and was kind. I used to liken him to Buhari because he was also very kind and sympathetic to people. He was an excellent human being, but he goes on to become president, and something happened. I know the time he changed, and I told him. Around 2022, Tinubu relocated to Abuja to pursue his presidential ambition, and our people, the northerners who were his friends, surrounded him, and he was caged. They introduced him to religious bigots who claimed they knew Buhari, and that was when he started changing. I had access to him then in Abuja. He's someone you can like. Bola has given some people a stupendous amount of money to help them out of crises without expecting anything. But the thing about Tinubu is that he has a gift. He can see in you future returns in advance. He does things like that. He was a good man at that time, but he has lost his soul now. He's someone who's in charge all the time, but he doesn't look in charge anymore as long as he gets his own share of whatever he's looking for. The rest they can loot however they want. I wish he could go back to what he was before. Nigeria will be great. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

President Tinubu is not a healthy man. Nigerians are not fooled when he goes to France. I've said it before. He has done four years. He should face his health. Bola is not even someone who is materialistic. He wakes up in the morning and eats banana and groundnut, and that's his food. What I know he likes most is silk cigarettes. He smokes. He likes that a lot. He can't do without it. I don't know if he has stopped. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

I'll support the Peter Obi-Kwankwaso ticket if I come back from my sabbatical. I doubt Tinubu has the physical ability to run a rigorous campaign. So, I read it that he's not ready for a contest. I know Tinubu and the things he'll do to win the election. The result for the 2027 presidential election has already been written. The script was written three years ago. Why do you think he purchased the opposition governors? The opposition has no access to funds. - Former SGF Babachir Lawal

The terrorists killed Mr Michael, the first teacher, on the second day of our abduction and killed Deacon, the second teacher, on the first Sunday of June. Speaking further on the planned NYSC reform, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, revealed that the NYSC orientation camp would be restructured into three phases: - The first two weeks will focus on civic responsibility, national values, and leadership development. - The next two weeks will cover career mapping, financial literacy, business planning, and access to finance. - The final two weeks will provide specialised training based on each corps member’s chosen career stream. Under the new framework, corps members will select one of the newly created 11 specialised streams upon registration and will receive specialised training throughout the orientation programme in preparation for future employment and national service. The 11 specialised streams are: Agric Corps, Medical Corps, Education Corps, Tech and Digital Corps, Legal Corps, Public Service Corps, Infrastructure Corps, Green Corps, Enterprise Corps, Creative Economy Corps, and Paramilitary and Security Corps. She added that the specialised streams will equip graduates with practical skills tailored to their academic backgrounds, career interests, and the country’s workforce needs. Usman noted that the reforms also review deployment procedures, including how corps members are posted across states, with greater consideration for prevailing security realities.

I was in exile with President Tinubu for over 12 years, and I was with him during his time as Governor of Lagos State. I know his thinking, and he has demonstrated to Nigerians that you don't have to be in his party for him to work with you. If you have the capacity and energy, he'll work with you. That's why I'm proud of my former student, the one and only Nyesom Wike, who belongs to the PDP but became minister. Today, I can stand here and say he's the best-performing minister in Nigeria. - Professor Julius Ihonvbere, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, hails FCT Minister Nyesom Wike at a dinner hosted by the minister to mark the successful completion of 31 projects commissioned for President Tinubu’s 3rd anniversary in office.

We created an administrative code for the 'fake' agency after receiving a letter from the State House (Presidency), but we later found out that the letter was forged as it did not originate from the State House. Also, our letter responding to the State House request didn't get to them because the man (Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi) in charge of the fake agency hijacked the letter. - Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, told the House of Representatives committee investigating the operations of the 'fake' Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC)

Drama in the Senate between Senate President Akpabio and Senator Oshiomhole over the confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina as an ambassador despite sexual harassment allegations leveled against him. Senator Oshiomhole: The man, who is also a professor, has been accused by two women of sexual harassment and the cases are in court. The Senate shouldn't confirm him as an ambassador until the court gives a ruling on the cases. Senator Lalong: No court proceedings regarding the sexual harassment case were brought before my committee (Committee on Foreign Affairs). It's not every allegation that will stop the proceedings of the Senate. Senate President Akpabio: I don’t want to go outside of what we are doing. I would have asked a question when there was a picture showing one of our senators in a plane, massaging the leg of a girl...(laughter by senators). Senator Oshiomhole, your friend, your very good friend, Senator Lalong, came to give me security information. He said that we just ignored the massaging because we thought it was AI. But if you have another evidence, we have a petition before us. We can look into it if it’s not AI.
