Monaleo × Maxo Kream Flat Blackness. Pan-African aesthetics. Anti-Black receipts. Monaleo has built her image around flat Blackness defined by symbolic Pan-African aesthetics. But now we can see what is behind the scenes. Her manager, Toby Oniyitan, also manages Maxo Kream. Maxo, who is of Nigerian descent, has old tweets from 2010 through 2013 showing a long pattern of anti-Black language aimed at Foundational Black Americans. He used the word repeatedly in a way that mocked and disrespected us. That same manager, Toby Oniyitan, has a history of using the same slur in his own posts from 2012. He is Maxo Kream’s cousin and the co-founder of Stomp Down, the label connected to both artists. So when we talk about Monaleo, Maxo Kream, and Toby Oniyitan, we are talking about one management network with a public record of anti-Black commentary. A woman named Harmony, who refers to herself as racially ambiguous, is spreading false claims about people of the Foundational Black American lineage, calling us misogynistic, separatist, anti-African, and part of a MAGA cult. She even introduced “indigenous erasure” while suggesting Africans and FBAs share the same slavery history. She wrongly accuses Tariq Nasheed of being the leader of FBA.
