Congratulations to the Black Stars on their victory over Panama in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Toronto. This victory reflects the hard work and preparation that go into representing Ghana on the world stage. It has inspired hope among Ghanaians everywhere. On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I assure the team of our support as they continue in the tournament. I urge the Black Stars to remain focused and united. The nation stands behind them and looks forward to more successes. Congratulations once again, Black Stars, and may you continue to bring honour to Ghana.

I visited the personal photographer of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Rev. Christian Tsui Hesse (Chris Hesse). Rev. Hesse is one of Ghana’s most celebrated cinematographers and filmmakers. I thank Rev. Chris Hesse for his extraordinary service to our nation and pray for his continued strength and good health.

Yesterday, I spent an uplifting morning at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, where I was the guest of honour for the commissioning of their newly renovated dining hall and kitchen. This initiative was sponsored by the AOGA 1999 year group. In her welcome address, the headmistress, Mrs. Wilhelmina Obuobisa- Atakora, thanked me for my presence. I assured her that the honour was mutual, because Aburi Girls was my first school visit as Vice President. Also, Aburi was once home for me: I was in Aburi Presbyterian Demonstration Girls’ Boarding School before going to secondary school. I commended the old girls for their contributions to the school and encouraged the young girls to dream big, work hard, and look to God. Rev. E.A Asiedu, the Presbytery Chairperson, highlighted our government’s longstanding commitment to quality education by recalling the provision of a science laboratory, a school bus, and other projects when I was the Minister for Education. The President of the 1999 AOGA year group, Mrs. Emelia Sackey, explained to the students that the renovated building is a testament to what women can achieve together. Also at the ceremony were the AOGA Global President, Prof. Koryoe Anim- Bright, the MP for Akuapem South, Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu, and constituency executives. After we cut the tape and inspected the renovated buildings, I made a contribution towards the legacy project. Thank you to the administration and staff, the students, and my fellow teachers for the invitation.

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has returned to Ghana after attending the 2025 Munich Security Conference in Germany and the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. These high-level engagements focused on global security, diplomacy, and Africa’s strategic priorities. I welcomed the President back home and took the opportunity to debrief him on key developments in the country while he was away.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Tong Defa, paid a courtesy call on me to offer his congratulations and to assure me of China’s readiness to work with the NDC government to deepen the bilateral relations between Ghana and China. We discussed the need for more dialogue, as well as a prioritization of our respective needs and strengths. We both look forward to more years of mutual cooperation and development.

Let us face the facts: The promotion of ethnocentric elitism masquerading as intellectualism; nepotism cloaked as know-how; weakness strutting as courage; and crony capitalism masked as development in freedom; shameless hypocrisy acting as objectivity… these never served a country determined to make progress at any level. Rather, the most significant achievement of these things has been a country in near insolvency, its natural resources such as water and land and environment in rebellion, a people harassed and intimidated into numbness and as some say cynically, bribed into silence. #LetsBuildGhanaTogether #mahama2024
