For the first time, the Nobel Peace Center invited everyone in Oslo to join the #NobelPeacePrize Celebrations on 10 December, from an outdoor stage at City Hall Square! 10 December kicked off with the Children’s Peace Prize celebration, where young performers put on an incredible show for their special guests, including Ana Corina Sosa Machado, Crown Princess Mette Marit, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra. Throughout the day, crowds gathered to watch the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony, right across from Oslo City Hall where it all took place. The stage later came alive with mini-lectures, music, and inspiring speeches, before the festivities wrapped up with the traditional torchlight procession🕊️ Thank you all for making this day – and this week – so memorable! Peace negotiations should never be turned into a media circus, warned Nobel Peace Prize laureate Juan Manuel Santos in his Nobel lecture in 2016. In the turbulent times we are living right now, inspiration can be found from peace negotiators and peace prize laureates like Santos and former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari. We are, and will always be, more people who wish the world well than those who want to destroy it. A visit to the Nobel Peace Center is a voice for those who work for development and peace. A voice for humanity. A voice for hope. Give hope a voice.
