WAKE UP Western Australia - NO more land clearing!! 🚜❌ Your diversity IS comparable to the Amazon! 🪲🌸 I can’t believe in 2026 we still have people that don’t understand how incredibly biodiverse, unique and threatened the flora and fauna of Western Australia is - especially a member of council! 😤 There is almost no where else on earth so diverse with endemic species that you can drive an hour and pass through the habitat of half a dozen different Peacock Spiders and dozens of orchid species! ☀️ I don’t care if it’s only one tree or one bush, we have lost SO much bushland in the south-west and we are guaranteed to have caused so many EXTINCTIONS already of species that never got the chance to be documented! ‼️ When will we understand that constant destruction of these habitats is not progress? We are so lucky to live in the most biodiverse country on earth and we need to start PRIORITISING the little remaining but incredible habitats of the south-west! 👊

🚨I am absolutely beyond shocked at how invasive and fire-fuelling Buffel Grass has COMPLETELY overtaken eco-systems in central Australia recently. 🔥 Everywhere we go, driving for hours, it honestly beggars belief. This is an absolute climate and biodiversity emergency. 🦎❌ We are witnessing potential irreversible changes to one of the most biodiverse arid eco-systems in the world. Fuelling fires, changing and completely overtaking landscapes. Biodiversity that is dependent on native grasses and less intense fires will unavoidably become less abundant or disappear. Honestly heartbreaking. How this isn’t news or a national priority is mind-boggling.

CRUSTACEAN IN A TREE!! 🤯🤯🤯 I have seen it all now!! A HUGE Lamington Spiny Crayfish just WALKING up a tree in Queensland’s rainforests!!🌳💙 These AMAZING crayfish are a threatened species and they only live in the picturesque mountain streams of the Gold Coast hinterland! 💦 During heavy rain they move from stream to stream and we found half a dozen wandering on the floor, but this one up a tree took us by surprise! 🫨

A NIGHT SKINK IN THE DESERT!! 🦎🌙 This is one reptile I was DESPERATE to see on my recent desert trip, so was over the moon when we got lucky one sunset! 🏜️🌅 These big-eyes skinks skip the heat of the day in a burrow they make, usually underneath spinifex! How amazing! 😍
