Kathy Hochul should “implement a temporary stay on evictions for those who are dealing with pending deed theft cases.” According to the New York State Attorney General’s office, deed theft happens when the title to a home is taken without the homeowner’s knowledge or consent, often through forgery or deception. NY1 has reached out to the governor’s office for comment.

Thousands of LinkNYC kiosks across the five boroughs will display routes to the nearest cooling center, which Mamdani says shouldn't be more than a 10-minute walk. There will also be "cool vans" stationed around the city to provide hydration and electrolytes, meals (including vegetarian, kosher and halal options), plus transport to the nearest cooling center.
