I know the young man has obviously struggled a lot & I think he's probably done in Minnesota. If they thought there was half a chance they could mold him into something this year, he'd be starting right now. .Rich Cimini said he thinks Jamal Adams (Jamal Adams) is "one of the two best safeties in the #Jets' history. He was a first-team All-Pro, he was a Pro Bowl guy, yeah, I know he didn't intercept a lot of passes, we know that, but he was a force around the line of scrimmage. Rich Cimini emphatically stated that the QB2 job is "locked up; I mean Klubnik is going to be the No. 2 quarterback. I don't think there's any question about that." * Brandon Tierney starts making faces * Cimini responds, "Don't disagree with me, BT." BT: "I'm not vehemently disagreeing, but I do think that is open to interesting levels of debate ... How many times have we got into a season where we can honestly, objectively say the Jets running back room, pretty good. Jets' O-Line room, pretty good. Jets wide receiver room, pretty good. Jets tight end room, pretty good." "Even the weaker aspects of the team, like linebacker and safety, have Demario Davis, who might be one of the best leaders in football and Minkah Fitzpatrick and we don't know if he can still play you know at the level that we need him to play at but you know he's going to bring some intellect and some sage presence that should elevate the young guys." .Rich Cimini told a phenomenal #Jets preseason story from the past: "This is the mid-90s, the Jets are playing. Now, hear me out: they're playing a preseason game in Jackson, Mississippi; they're playing the #Eagles. Don't ask me why. This is pre-cell phone days. I'm working for Newsday at the time as the beat writer. We file the story during the game & then the plan is to call in quotes after the game so my editor could insert that into the story. There was a deadline & the deadline was this: Rich Kotite was gracious enough to allow the beat writers to fly home on the team charter after the game. So we didn't have to spend an extra night in Jackson. So we couldn't go back to the press box; we had to do it fast. So I had to go in the locker room, get my quotes, get out to the pay phone -- yes, a pay phone outside the locker room to call in my quotes. So I'm on a tight time watch here. So I go out & there's this player at the pay phone & I'm waiting, & waiting, & this player, as I can hear him talking, is clearly talking to his parents, giving them like a play-by-play of what he did in the game. The game wasn't even on live TV; it was a tape delay, & this rookie player is giving the play-by-play, & I'm looking at my watch & I'm like, 'Kotite is going to leave me at the stadium here if this guy doesn't hurry up!' So the guy finishes the phone call & walks away & the player was a rookie free agent named Wayne Chrebet. I always remembered that he was like a little kid calling his parents, telling them you will never believe what I just did in this game. .Rich Cimini revealed that #Jets QB Geno Smith ‘was pulled over for speeding’ on Monday July 6 ‘at about 11 o’clock in the morning’ … ‘The police report claimed that he was doing 70 in a 45 mph zone. He also wasn’t able to produce a license at the scene.’ ‘There’s another development relating to Geno & I want to make sure we put this in the proper context because in a vacuum it would be no big deal but given what allegedly happened a few weeks ago I guess it all goes into the story’ … ‘These are traffic violations, these are not misdemeanors, these are citations. It’s about $400 in fines. He doesn’t even have to show up in court. ![.Rich Cimini heard some alarming analysis from a scout on Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby: ‘I talked to a scout about him just based on pure football ability forgetting about the off the field stuff, the scout I talked to who studied him very closely during last season thought he was a third day draft pick. Somewhere between the fourth and sixth round. He wasn’t overly impressed with him.’ ‘He’s listed at 6-3, [but] the scout told me he’s probably closer to 6 foot or 6-1. Good athlete, but kind of reckless when he runs with the ball a little bit. He put up some good passing numbers but this scout said they have that guy on the roster - Cade Klubnik. That’s who he compared him to. Now this scout is not affiliated with the #Jets, I just want to make that perfectly clear, this was a guy who was independently scouting and saw this guy.’ Rich has heard Sorsby could go ‘as high as the 2nd round in the supplemental.
