1/3 Dear Blessing, I watched your video and listened as you explained how your journey from Masaka to Berger in the FCT now costs ₦500 instead of ₦1,500. That is ₦1,000 saved every trip. I know what that means when you have a family to feed, bills to pay and other responsibilities waiting at home. I was equally pleased to hear from Ada and Abigail, who now pay ₦1,600 instead of ₦4,000 to travel from Enugu to Nsukka, saving ₦2,400 on each journey. I also listened to Kabir, a taxi driver who explained that ₦10,000 worth of CNG allows him to make three more return trips than his colleagues using petrol. He says he has no intention of going back to petrol. I have also received encouraging feedback from Borno, where some commuters are now paying as little as ₦50 per trip on CNG and electric vehicles. Your various experiences show what our investment in CNG transportation is intended to achieve. Lower operating costs for drivers should translate into more affordable fares for passengers, leaving families with more money for their everyday needs. When we removed the petrol subsidy, I knew the decision would bring difficulties for many households. With that decision came a responsibility to provide practical alternatives that would ease transportation costs. Your stories show this is already happening, and I want more Nigerians to experience these benefits.

2026 INDEPENDENCE DAY ADDRESS: FROM REFORMS TO PROSPERITY My fellow Nigerians, Sixty-six years ago today, our flag was raised, for the first time, over a free and sovereign nation. Since then, we have journeyed together as one nation, bound by our collective trust in the great promise of Nigeria: that a country of our size, our bountiful resources, our cultural diversity and, above all, our extraordinary people can build a giant in Africa; that in this blessed and fertile land we can build a united, strong and prosperous nation; a land of regional authority and global consequence. Our journey has not always been easy. In truth, it has generally been too hard for too many. We have known moments of great hope and periods of profound disappointment. We have endured war, military rule, economic crises, insecurity and political upheaval. Yet through it all, Nigeria, with the indomitable spirit of its people, has endured. It has endured through the efforts of the farmer who rises before dawn to work his land. The trader who opens her shop each morning, hopeful for a productive day. The teacher who believes in the children entrusted to her care and the young entrepreneur who refuses to surrender ambition to circumstance. We are grateful for the men and women of our Armed Forces and security services who place themselves in harm's way so that the rest of us may live in peace. Through every difficulty, generations of Nigerians have continued to believe in one thing: that this country of ours will be better. This faith, which sustains us all, is the inheritance of independence. Our founding fathers did not struggle merely for a flag, an anthem or a place among the nations of the world. Independence carried a larger promise: that Nigerians would have the freedom to shape their own destiny and build a nation capable of providing opportunity, dignity and a better life for its people. Sixty-six years later, Almighty God has made it our responsibility to deliver that promise. Today, as we celebrate our independence, we must speak honestly about the journey so far, the choices we made, and the country we are determined to build from here. For too long, the promise of Nigeria was undermined by choices that postponed difficult decisions and allowed deep economic distortions to grow. By 2023, poverty was rising, and hope was nearly gone. The country's situation was darker than ever. We had no choice but to act. Nigeria was like a sick patient who receives the terrible news that he has cancer. His doctor explains that the treatment will be difficult and painful, but that it offers a strong prospect of recovery. The patient has a choice. He can begin treatment, endure its discomfort and fight the disease. Or he can ask only for morphine, dull the pain and leave the cancer to spread. For too long, Nigeria's leaders chose morphine while praying for a miracle that never came. They focused on symptoms while allowing the disease to take hold deep within the fabric of our society. We spent enormous sums sustaining inefficient arrangements that were never intended to last. We hid from difficult truths and passed the consequences from one generation to the next. When this Administration assumed office, we resolved to do things differently. We chose to excise the cancer. The reforms that followed were difficult. The side effects were real. Yet, we must never confuse the medicine with the disease. Our reforms did not create the weaknesses in our economy. They confronted them. Now, as certain influential but regressive voices would have us abandon the treatment and return ourselves to the abuse of addictive subsidies, we must resist their siren song. We must remember why we began this journey and how far we have already come.

When I walked into the hall yesterday and saw the young men and women of the City Boy Movement City Boy Movement, Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria, and other youth groups gathered from across our country, I saw something that reminded me why I sought the presidency of this great nation. I saw Nigeria. I saw its energy, its courage, its determination, and the future we are working to build together. Many of you have stood with me through difficult moments. You have defended your convictions, carried our message into communities, and continued to believe in the promise of a greater Nigeria. I listened to your stories with immense pride and gratitude. You reminded me once again that the greatest strength of our nation lies in its people, especially its young people. There are words I do not say often enough, and yesterday, I wanted you to hear them directly from me. Thank you. Thank you for believing. Thank you for standing with me. I remain committed to building a Nigeria worthy of your faith, your sacrifices, and your aspirations. Together, we will deliver the future you deserve.

Today, the rewards I promised our D’Tigress have been fully redeemed. Each player has received the naira equivalent of $100,000, while each official has received the equivalent of $50,000, completing their package of cash rewards, national honours and three-bedroom homes in Abuja. For the first time, a Federal Government has fulfilled this scale of presidential sporting rewards in full within one year. We had to follow the processes required by law and ensure that every commitment was properly implemented. That took time, but a promise made must be a promise kept. We are also concluding the outstanding cash rewards for our Super Falcons. The Super Falcons players and officials have already received the title documents to their house allocations and National Honours certificates. Likewise, the promise of houses and national honours I made to Super Eagles players has since been redeemed. Our athletes who bring honour to Nigeria deserve more than applause. They deserve a country that keeps its word. My promise to every Nigerian Athelete is make NIGERIA proud, and come back to a grateful Nation. Congratulations once again, our athletes. Nigeria is proud of you. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR President

Over the past few days, servicemen and women of the Armed Forces have shared what the recent pay increase means for them and their families. I am glad it is making a difference. This week, the Nigerian Army Nigerian Army operationalised new formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo and Osun. Our troops are now closer to vulnerable communities in these areas, strengthening our ability to respond swiftly and decisively when our people are threatened. We are also fast-tracking the construction of new barracks and depots in Abuja, Ekiti, Ebonyi and Kogi, with Osun already completed. As we demand more from our men and women in uniform, we must do more to support them and their families. Every deployment is a sacrifice made by a family too. As our Armed Forces stand watch over Nigeria, my duty as Commander-in-Chief is to ensure they have the resources and support to do their job, and that Nigeria stands firmly behind the families waiting for them at home. 3/3 As President, I have a duty to provide relief today without compromising our children’s future. Every commitment must be sustainable and backed by a credible plan. That responsibility guides our decisions, including the difficult ones. Anyone seeking to lead Nigeria should be prepared to explain what their promises will cost, how they will deliver them, and whether they can sustain them. Promises are easy to make when the costs can be postponed, leaving Nigerians and future generations to pay the bill. Blessing, Ada, Abigail and Kabir, your stories encourage me because they show what these investments mean in the daily lives of Nigerians. Emmanuel, your request reminds me of the work still ahead. I know many more Nigerians like you are waiting for these services. Our responsibility is to keep expanding access until affordable transportation becomes a reality for more communities across our country. That is the work we will continue in collaboration with the States. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR President Presidency Nigeria Government of Nigeria The Presidential Initiative on CNG & EV

My fellow Nigerians, Today, I address you with a sense of responsibility, as we navigate through these times. The protests, which turned violent in some parts of our nation, have caused unimaginable pain and loss, particularly to the families of those who have tragically lost their lives. Our nation’s resources are stretched thin as we rebuild what has been destroyed. As your President, I am committed to ensuring public order and protecting the lives and property of every Nigerian. We must come together, suspending further protests, and embrace dialogue for the sake of our nation’s unity and progress. Despite the challenges, our government is making significant strides. We have doubled government revenues by blocking leakages and introducing automation, reduced debt service, and launched major infrastructure projects. Initiatives like the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, the MSME Hubs, and the Renewed Hope City and Estate projects aim to improve the quality of life for all Nigerians. To drive down the cost of food and medicines, I have ordered the suspension of duties on critical food items and medical supplies for the next six months, in the first instance, while I can also confirm to you that billions of Naira worth of tractors and planting equipment purchased from US, Brazil and Belarus, are already on the way to our country. We have also shown our commitment to the youth with programs like the student loan scheme and the Digital and Creative Enterprises initiative, which will create millions of jobs. Let us choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come. Forward Ever, Backward Never! Thank you for your attention, and may God bless our great nation

“We will not submit to noise, rascality, or disobedience to lawful court orders. We must uphold democracy, respect the judiciary whether it favours us or not, and remain faithful to the principles that hold our nation together. There is no path to national greatness except the path of building one country, one common vision, one shared future of progress and prosperity for all Nigerians. That is what Renewed Hope is about. They cannot scare me off. I have been through this road before and, if I must walk it again and again for our country, I will. There is no better place than Nigeria, and no one will build it for us except ourselves. I have listened. I know the journey is not easy. But I give you my word: I will not run away from this task. I will not give up. Coordinate from the ward level, act as one family, stay focused on what we promised Nigerians, and stand firm.” This was my message to the leadership and coordinators of my Renewed Hope Ambassadors this afternoon. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The work continues. Bola Ahmed Tinubu President

Today, at the Vatican, upon the personal invitation of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, I joined world leaders and millions of Catholics in witnessing the beginning of a new papacy. Pope Leo XIV’s humility, history with Nigeria, and message of peace remind us of the moral leadership the world desperately needs. As a nation of deep faith and great diversity, Nigeria remains committed to building bridges across belief, race, and continent—for peace, for progress, and for all of humanity. May the Almighty guide the Holy Father and strengthen all who labour for a more just and compassionate world. ~ PBAT

Fellow Nigerians, A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable. With the new tax laws I recently signed, taking effect from January 2026, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy. A Personal Income Tax Calculator has been developed. It allows you to check your estimated tax under the new laws against what you currently pay. It shows clearly how these reforms protect low-income earners, ensures progressivity, and simplifies compliance in order to deliver a transparent system that works for all. Try the Personal Income Tax calculator at Together, we are renewing hope in the Nigeria of our dreams. Take a bet on our country. Bet on Nigeria to work for you, your family, and your community. ~ PBAT

To the Commonwealth Family, It is time for Africa. After 100 years of the Commonwealth Games, they have never been hosted on African soil. By bringing the Commonwealth Centenary Games to Nigeria in 2030, you will send a powerful message that every region of the Commonwealth matters, and that Africa is not only part of the story, but central to its future. Nigeria is the gateway. Africa is the stage. The Commonwealth is the family. Let us make history together in 2030. Let us complete the circle of Commonwealth unity. The dream must be realized. The time is now. Bola Ahmed Tinubu President Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬
