It’s an old one but a good one. Different buttons. Different plumes. Different traditions. But one standard, one purpose, and one family. The Foot Guards might look similar at first glance, but every regiment brings its own history, customs and identity to the parade square — from the precision of the Grenadier Guards, the quiet professionalism of the Coldstream Guards, the pride of the Scots Guards, the spirit of the Irish Guards, to the legacy and grit of the Welsh Guards. Different — but all of the same. Seven into One. Tradition meets modern soldiering. Which regiment’s traditions stand out to you the most? The Sound of Christmas, Fijian Style. Our Fijian Choir once again stole the show at our annual Christmas Church Service, filling the chapel with a harmony that stops you in your tracks. Their voices carry tradition, pride and the spirit of the Regiment in every note. A special moment for everyone present — and another reminder of the incredible talent within our Welsh Guards family. One of the best traditions in our calendar is the Annual Christmas Dinner for our Junior NCOs and Guardsmen — a moment where the senior NCOs and Officers step behind the serving line and look after the boys for a change. It’s a tradition that brings everyone together, reminds us of who we are, and lets the Battalion switch off and enjoy each other’s company before Christmas leave. This year’s dinner had everything you’d expect — paper crowns, terrible cracker jokes, and the kind of singing that definitely won’t win any awards but fills the room with proper Welsh Guards spirit. And for once… no food fight. Miracles do happen. Just good atmosphere, good laughs, and a hall full of Guardsmen enjoying the break. We were also extremely fortunate to welcome His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, who dropped in for an informal chat and a bottle of beer with the lads. A brilliant opportunity for him to meet the men of his Company and share in a bit of the camaraderie that makes the Welsh Guards what it is. A moment the boys will remember for a long time. A fantastic afternoon, full of pride, tradition and Christmas cheer. Cymru Am Byth #merrychristmas #CymruAmByth #christmas #xmas #armylife
