We are excited to be working on a new research study which is aiming to create a lateral flow test (LFT) to determine whether a patient is suffering a stroke. We are working alongside the University of Birmingham and University Hospitals Birmingham on the Ghost study, which will see us obtain saliva from patients who are demonstrating stroke symptoms, to help create an LFT which in turn will help to speed up access to brain-saving treatment and saving more patients. Ready to jump into the virtual driving seat? That's what our future Paramedics are doing!🙌 The driver simulator, which is the first of its kind amongst ambulance Trust’s in the UK, will allow students undertaking their Emergency Blue Light Driving course with the Trust to prepare for driving in scenarios which could occur while driving an ambulance under emergency conditions, which cannot be staged in real life🚑. Student Paramedic, Will, is one of the first students to undertake his training on the driving simulator🚑. Will said: "I'm finding this really useful to practise situations that we might not have the opportunity to do in a real life setting. "It's really interesting to train with this kind of equipment and I hope this will enable me to be a safe blue light driver."
