The House is operating outside the bounds of tradition. Last week, debate was silenced and Conservative amendments were killed without a chance to be considered. Today, the Speaker informed us that the Housekeeping Resolution would not be considered by the House at all, again silencing Conservative voices and the voices of our voters. #txlege

My colleague Representative Frank pointing out that TMA did nothing to defend a doctor’s ability to prescribe Ivermectin during COVID-19. Despite the fact that hundreds, if not thousands, of physicians determined that Ivermectin could have helped their patients, TMA failed to protect the ability of those physicians to prescribe the medication in favor of expensive pharmaceuticals and vaccines. 🚨WATCH: Early this morning after over 15 hours of debate, I rose to speak against final passage of the House’s budget. I cannot vote for a budget that provides little new property tax relief to the families of #HD60 and Texas. With an over $24 billion budget surplus, we must do more for our constituents, and for that reason, I cannot support this budget. I am hopeful the final version does more for property tax relief. #txlege

I was shocked that the Republican-led Texas House would allow a guest worker bill to the floor for a vote. Meanwhile, good bills that address illegal immigration are stalled in committees. Multiple good E-Verify bills are stalled in State Affairs, including my HB 3210. 7 bills banning In-State tuition for illegals (including my bill HB 1324) are stalled in Higher Ed Committee. Other bills that mandate law enforcement cooperate in the 287g program to help deport illegal criminal aliens were sent to calendars, but late in the process and may not make the floor at all. #txlege

As my FIRST act on the Texas House's DOGE committee, I filed HB-3743. It REPEALS section 651.004 of the Texas Government code, which mandates a rigid 1-to-11 manager-to-employee ratio across ALL state agencies. No wonder the BUREAUCRACY runs SO DEEP! It's time to empower our state agencies by optimizing their workforce. This code is unnecessary, and it's time to remove the BLOAT! #txlege #GovernmentReform
