Statement and video from Omaha Police Dept: “Omaha Police responded to 67th & Pacific St. for an accident shortly after 3:30 p.m.The roadway collapsed, and two vehicles fell into a sinkhole just east of the intersection. No injuries were reported. The driver of the truck was able to get himself out of the sinkhole. Bystanders and the truck driver helped the SUV driver out of the sinkhole. Both vehicles have since been towed. The video shows not only the road collapsing, but also bystanders rushing to aid the drivers involved. We are grateful to them for jumping into action and quickly providing help.”

🎥: Aftermath of the fatal officer involved shooting that occurred around 9:22 a.m., this morning at 1606 S 72nd Street, Walmart. A female was shot and killed by OPD after she refused commands and cut an approximately 2-year-old with a knife. The child was transported in serious but stable condition.

🎥: At 2:17 p.m., Omaha Fire was called to a water rescue at Benson Park. A car went into the water and was fully submerged. The OFD Dive Team was called to the scene to assist. Crews were able to extricate one person from the water. A tow truck assisted in pulling the car partially out of the water. Medics transported the victim Code 99 (CPR in Progress) to Nebraska Medical Center. The victim was in the water for approximately 25 minutes.

Follow up on a call we covered early this morning: At around 1:30 a.m., Omaha Police units were dispatched to Storz Expressway and Lindbergh Drive for a crowd of cars blocking the road and doing cookies. In the scanner audio, the first responding officer states that his cruiser is being attacked. The officers cruiser windows were also sprayed with a fire extinguisher and he was unable to identify the suspects or vehicles. The officer was able to retreat to a safe place until other officers arrived. The officer was not injured and the suspects were not located. 🔊 Scanner audio below has unrelated calls removed.
