Tamil Nadu doesn’t have any of the basic beers available in Pondicherry or Bengaluru starting from Heineken, Corona, Budweiser, Bira, Hoegarden and even KF. The Tasmac shops only have two brands stocked up in full: SNG and British Empire owned by the same group. Vignesh TVK

Almost all boats in Mahabalipuram fishermen town, falling under Thiruporur constituency, have #TVK flags on them. Fishermen said #DMK did not give them representation while they don’t want to be part of the #VCK vs #PMK battle in Thiruporur which they think is fought on caste lines. Hence, their village has uniformly decided to back #TVK.

Ruckus broke out in the Greater Chennai Corporation council when Congress councillors said “Change has arrived in Tamil Nadu…. Best wishes to Thalapathy Vijay”… Their mics were cut immediately and they weren’t allowed to speak further. The Congress and DMK councillors engaged in a war of words, with DMK calling Congress traitors. Congress walked out of the council hall, alleging they were denied the oppositon status and also grouped seating for the 27 councillors in oppositon.

Today was one of the poorest Greater Chennai Corporation council meetings in the last four years. Being the first council meeting after the state elections, much of the three-hour session was spent with DMK councillors mocking the chief minister and the TVK government, with some also making personal remarks. There was little objective criticism or constructive discussion. A council meeting should not become a space to settle political scores: party platforms exist for that. The council meeting is for bringing in enriching ideas and development for the 1-crore people of Chennai. A few councillors did raise substantive concerns, but those discussions did not require a three-hour meeting.

How’s the scene in #Villivakkam? Here’s what people said when I asked who they will vote for through a random sampling. All uncut videos. “DMK is strong here. We voted for #AIADMK when “Amma” was alive… then shifted to #DMK. Now we will vote for #Vijay. We believe he will give safety to women, and want to give him a chance. All 8 votes in our house is for Vijay,” said a woman. (1/n) Disclaimer: These were merely random samplings throwing a general mood of commoners. It doesn’t and may not reflect the mood or voting patterns of the mass electorate.

Royapuram - a thread. Who leads? Find out in this thread from the extensive amount of people I spoke to from the constituency. Battle ground #Royapuram: The love that Royapuram people have for #AIADMK ex-minister D Jayakumar remains a huge factor in the 2026 assembly race. His good will and personal rapport cuts across sections of people. Even though people are beneficiaries of state govt welfare schemes, they weigh the personal contribution that the former minister has done for them in their personal lives from being there from marriages, deaths, education support and life events. While this factor puts him as the central figure of the race, the biggest challenge for him is to regain a section of the 40,000-odd Muslim voters who didn’t vote for him in 2021 after he abstained from the CAA & NRC protests in Chennai’s Shaheen Bagh. The DMK too has fielded Subair Khan, son of former minister Rahaman Khan. Subair his DMK’s first ever Muslim candidate in Royapuram. However, he lacks the political experience compared to Jayakumar who’s a four-time minister. Subair and TVK’s Vijay Damo too are from Royapettah and Velachery, giving Jayakumar an home-boy edge. In short, Royapuram is turning into a battle of DMK’s welfare policies vs Jayakumar’s personal rapport. (1/n)

#Chennai mayor R Priya skips state govt meetings, yet to meet chief minister C Joseph Vijay officially. A statement too hasn’t been sent from the mayor office through yet even after the chief minister took over the MAWS dept which is GCC’s parent department. What can be the ramifications of this? Will this affect the state and Chennai Corporation equations? How things will turn out? Watch my detailed discussion in Samayam Tamil

Speaking to me, alongside the campaign trail on Kasimedu, #TVK Royapuram candidate K V Vijay Damo, who was an auto-driver and served in Vijay Makkal Iyakkam for 30 years, said he wants to improve public toilets and improve housing. When questioned on contesting in a “star seat” against former minister from #AIADMK and in a legacy constituency of #DMK, he said “Vijay is the biggest star”. Damo is TVK’s South Chennai district secretary and has been given a ticket in Royapuram.

I was interviewing some common public in #Royapuram and these boys, who were playing cricket, were shouting #TVK #TVK from behind. Made them come together and asked what’s up with them. Then one of the kids took me to their parents two roads away and I interviewed them. They said the same .Kids remain one of the biggest USP for Vijay .

Watch | Can Rs 50 change your life? How this Tamil Nadu model can be a new model for the young India. In India, millions chase the same dream — a govt medical seat, a govt job, a better life. In Kolathur, at chief minister M.K.Stalin’s constituency, the chief minister’s co-working and co-learning centre is quietly helping level that playing field. For Rs 50 (half day) and Rs 100 (full day), youngsters preparing for NEET, JEE and UPSC get access to air-conditioned study space, Wi-Fi, desks, newspapers and civil service books. Monthly packages cost Rs 2,500 — far lower than many private centres. Startups and professionals use the same space too — 40 co-working seats, conference rooms and shared networking. Students travel up to 20 km to study here. Some say the quiet helps them focus. Others say the peer network sharpens their preparation. This TN model can be a model for the entire country.
