In a 1999 interview with ABC News, shortly after the couple went public with their relationship, journalist Don Dahler asked #MelaniaTrump about their romance, giving her the opportunity to respond to those who claimed she was only with Donald for his money. "People don't know me" she replied. "People who say those things don't know me." The journalist countered: "Well, it's not every day you see a 26-year-old supermodel on the arm of a 53-year-old car mechanic." Melania responded: "You know what? You can't sleep, cuddle, or have conversations with beautiful things; with a beautiful apartment, a beautiful plane, beautiful cars, or beautiful houses. You can't do that. You can feel very empty" she added. "And if someone says; 'You're with that man because he's rich and famous' it's because they don't know me." 🔝👏
