Srinagar is a slum in the making and Kashmir is heading towards a public-health disaster. J&K generates around 1,470 tonnes of municipal waste every day, yet official data shows less than 20% is scientifically treated. Srinagar alone produces roughly 550–600 tonnes daily, while the mountains of legacy waste continue to grow. Across Kashmir, garbage is piling up on roadsides, in open spaces and neighbourhoods breeding grounds for disease, epidemics and stray dogs.

Concerned over reports that Haj pilgrims from J&K travelling from Jeddah to Srinagar were stopped for immigration/customs clearance at Ahmedabad & asked to send their luggage separately by road. The same luggage’s were allowed during departure. Our Hajjis do not deserve this treatment. Requesting immediate intervention. A performance designed to mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir into believing that the National Conference was standing guard over their rights. In truth, they were complicit - quiet facilitators of our disempowerment. But really, should this come as a surprise? This is the same NC that watched silently for decades as Article 370 was gradually hollowed out - posing as protectors while doing nothing to actually protect. Their legacy is not one of resistance but of convenient silence dressed up as statesmanship. This well-rehearsed charade has only one purpose: to normalise the abrogation of 370 and 35A, and the climate of fear and intimidation unleashed post-August 5, 2019 - under the convenient label of a ‘popular government’. The truth is harsh but undeniable: generation after generation, the NC has built its political fortunes on the back of our dispossession. Dulat’s disclosure is not a shock - it is confirmation. A mirror held up to decades of hypocrisy, opportunism, and moral collapse.

With each passing day, it’s as if a war has been waged on the youth of J&K and their aspirations. Yet another scam in JKSSB’s constable (telecom) exam is shocking. The way candidates scoring below 10 marks in one exam are topping another singularly points towards the continued murder of merit. The way govt has been conveniently shielding the responsible with transfers needs to stop, heads have to roll. And it’s clear that this mess goes far beyond JKSSB.
