Farmers in Padgampora and Dangerpora are being stopped from cultivating nearly 1,000 kanals of land they have farmed for years. Today, we joined them in sowing paddy on these very fields. Land that feeds families cannot be fenced off by bulldozers. Omar Abdullah government busy threatening protesters has no answer for farmers. By rejecting the PDP’s Land Protection Bill despite repeated appeals by Mehbooba Mufti, government has chosen land grabs over livelihoods.

Concerned over reports that Haj pilgrims from J&K travelling from Jeddah to Srinagar were stopped for immigration/customs clearance at Ahmedabad & asked to send their luggage separately by road. The same luggage’s were allowed during departure. Our Hajjis do not deserve this treatment. Requesting immediate intervention. J&K government excels at announcements but fails on delivery. Jobs are scarce, unemployment is rising, and Kashmir’s farmers are facing an acute water crisis. With inadequate funding for irrigation and PHE infrastructure, coupled with political neglect, have left farms parched and livelihoods under threat. For many Kashmiris, the protection of land and property was not just an election issue, it’s personal, existential. Perhaps the only reason many voted was to safeguard their livelihood and ancestral inheritance. Bulldozer justice without procedure, or due process is not governance; it is dangerous precedence. Uprooting families from places held for generations is inhumane. This demolition in Keegam, Shopian, proceeded despite repeated pleas to the concerned revenue authorities. Incidents like this are precisely why our land regularisation bill was necessary. J&K government can’t ignore this problem by denying a land bill- a flood gate for demolition has been opened by denying legal protection to poor.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji Newa Pulwama's Kherwa land, a vital almond-producing area sustaining thousands of livelihoods, must not be used for the proposed NIT. It is with deep regret that I inform you that the J&K government has rejected our Bill on Sheikh-ul-Alam University in today’s Assembly session. I moved the Bill in the Legislative Assembly with the goal of establishing the region’s first private university. The proposed Sheikh-ul-Alam University Bill for Pulwama (Bill No. 9 of 2025) was, however, turned down by the government. Despite my persistent appeals and efforts to have it considered, Education Minister and the J&K government rejected the proposal. In the decisive vote, NC MLAs opposed the Bill, halting what could have been a landmark step for higher education in Pulwama. Currently, J&K has no private universities, while India has over 500. Our students face immense challenges, including safety concerns and high costs of education. Over the past ten years, 500 cases of hate crimes against students have been reported. Many students spend more than 1 lakh per year, and around 2 lakh students from J&K are studying outside the Union Territory. We urgently need to build strong institutions here in J&K so that our students can access quality education locally, overcome crises, and pursue their ambitions without facing such challenges.

With each passing day, it’s as if a war has been waged on the youth of J&K and their aspirations. Yet another scam in JKSSB’s constable (telecom) exam is shocking. The way candidates scoring below 10 marks in one exam are topping another singularly points towards the continued murder of merit. The way govt has been conveniently shielding the responsible with transfers needs to stop, heads have to roll. And it’s clear that this mess goes far beyond JKSSB.
