Have you all seen the mosque being built at Shiashie? It is a very huge non-governmental project. Look at how fast, organised and efficiently the project is being executed. Now, I have some serious questions. ⁉️ Why does it take government 8 to 16 years to complete some projects that are supposed to serve the good people of Ghana, despite all the resources, taxes and loans available to the government? This mosque project is making me ask a very simple question: What are we doing wrong with government projects? If a non-governmental organisation can mobilise resources, plan properly and execute a massive project at this speed, why can't government do the same with projects funded by the taxpayers' money? Ghanaians deserve answers. 🇬🇭 #Ghana #Development #Accountability #PublicProjects #ValueForMoney

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to bring to the attention of the United States Embassy in Ghana U.S. Embassy Accra a serious security and rule-of-law concern currently unfolding in Ghana. A video currently in the public domain clearly captures a Muslim cleric calling on Muslims to kill anyone who dares to speak against the Prophet Muhammad. The video is publicly available and can be provided for your attention and verification. My concern is not about Islam or Muslims. Ghana is a religiously diverse country, and every citizen has the right to practise his or her religion. My concern is the apparent call for violence against people because of their speech or views, and the failure of the relevant Ghanaian security authorities to take what I consider to be prompt action despite the video being publicly accessible. I am therefore concerned about the implications this development may have for public safety, freedom of expression, religious tolerance and the rule of law. I respectfully urge the Embassy to take note of this development and, within the limits of its diplomatic mandate, encourage the appropriate Ghanaian authorities to investigate the matter promptly, impartially and transparently. If Ghana is committed to the principles of democracy, freedom of expression and equal protection under the law, then those principles must apply regardless of the religious identity, position or influence of the individual involved. I am prepared to provide the publicly available video and any additional information in my possession to the appropriate authorities. Respectfully, Kofi Nunoo-Mensah
