This follows a directive from National Police Chief Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet to enhance traffic discipline. The initial phase, “Warning Before Fines,” ends March 31, after which penalties will apply. The main violations and fines are: - Exceeding speed limits: up to 4,000 baht (was 1,000) - Running red lights: up to 4,000 baht (was 1,000) - Failing to stop for pedestrians: up to 4,000 baht - Using a phone while driving: up to 4,000 baht - Driving the wrong way: up to 2,000 baht (was 500) - Not wearing a helmet: up to 2,000 baht - Not wearing a seatbelt: up to 2,000 baht - Not carrying a driving license: up to 1,000 baht, possible 1 month jail - Driving under the influence: 5,000–20,000 baht, up to 1 year jail - Reckless driving: 5,000–20,000 baht, up to 1 year jail Stricter enforcement aims to create safer roads and reduce accidents.accidents across the country.
