The south street seaport flooded in Manhattan today. My old neighborhood. The city spent millions building a seawall for storm surges and sea level rise. BUT warmer climate means NYC is now a humid subtropical zone, with heavier rain. The flooding is from inside the wall.

NYC actually subsidizes turning its neighborhoods into a traffic sewer. If you, partner, and two kids want to take a bus or subway into Manhattan, you pay $23.20 plus $28 in LIRR tickets. But if you drive your SUV in from Long Island, you pay $0 today. Completely backwards!

Washington St in DUMBO is world-famous for the Manhattan Bridge view. On nice days, it's packed with tens of thousands of tourists, strollers, & babies But without "Open Street" barricades, cars & Ubers drive right thru the crowd, inches from kids a major, unnecessary safety risk
