Ireland’s stock exchange has shrunk dramatically from around 100 listed companies in the 1990s to just 24 today. Tax and regulatory policies, including deemed disposal, have made listing and investing in Ireland far less attractive. The result? A market that no longer serves as a strong scaling platform for Irish SMEs. If we want the next generation of Irish multinationals to grow and compete globally, we need meaningful reform to rebuild our public markets. It was a huge honour after my first year in the Council to be elected Leas Cathaoirleach (Deputy Mayor) of our county, Dún Laoghaire – Rathdown. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to serve the people of Glencullen - Sandyford as their councillor. Happy 26th June to all those in Somaliland who are celebrating 65 years since independence. Given that Somaliland’s President Cabdiraxmaan Cirro recently once again called on the international community to recognise Somaliland as an independent country, I would hope this would be considered in Ireland. I will continue to raise this in Ireland so we can have the discussion about recognising Somaliland as an independent country. #Somaliland #Ireland
