We will force into your homes and ly*ch you there… My Hindu brothers and sisters stockpile w*apons at your homes…” This video clip from Tripura, #India, shows a #Hindu #BJP leader publicly delivering speeches explicitly inciting violence against Muslims. The remarks represent an extreme form of anti-Muslim hate speech. In India, numerous right-wing leaders have, on various occasions, issued similar statements calling for extreme level of violence against the Muslim minority. In many such cases, state authorities have been do not bother to take firm legal action against these right-wing Hindu leaders. As a consequence, incidents of hate speech targeting Muslims have continued to increase within the world’s largest democracy. By contrast, in neighbouring Muslim-majority #Bangladesh, there are no documented examples of Muslim or Islamic leaders openly calling for violence against Hindu minorities. Despite this, India’s ruling BJP, its supporters, and pro-government ‘godi media’ frequently accuse Bangladesh of persecuting Hindus. The claim that minority Hindus in Bangladesh are more persecuted than minority Muslims in India is ridiculously baseless.

During the protest, police and BGB opened fire with LMGs and Chinese rifles, killing many protesters. In the chaos, a few teenagers sought refuge in a nearby four-story building. As police regained control & climbed the building. Most escaped, but one teenager got trapped. He tried to hide, but two policemen spotted him and fired six rounds, killing him.
