When one of the execs at Warners heard that I was considering having Freakazoid get out of an impenetrable cage by calling Greg, the production assistant on the show and asking for the key she said, "You can't do that! It doesn't make sense!" So we did that.

The Freakazoid recording session that broke me. We had footage of a man wrestling a bear. Good. We thought we'd add bear and man noises. We brought Frank Welker in to be both the man and bear. Frank recorded the bear first. We ran it back and Frank then did the man. He surprised us by screaming. I almost choked from laughing. One take. We all left. The world was never the same.

Hard to believe but Dave The Barbarian premiered on the Disney Channel 21 years ago today. It was probs my favorite VO experience. We laughed much and had fun. Which is probably why it was cancelled. FUN=CANCELLATION. That's a Disney Rule.
