Meanwhile, in an apparent bid to avoid arrest, two of his associates returned money allegedly collected as cut-money from beneficiaries of the housing scheme. According to local residents, the amounts ranged from ₹5,000 to ₹28,000 per person, with some allegedly paying ₹10,000. The money was returned on Sunday amid mounting pressure and an ongoing police crackdown.

Massive tension erupted at Seven Point Crossing in Park Circus, Kolkata amid protests over multiple issues, including the loudspeaker, bulldozer drive. Stones were hurled at police personnel and police vehicles were vandalised. Police resorted to lathi-charge to bring the situation under control. West Bengal CID has issued a fresh notice to TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in a case related to alleged inflammatory speeches and purported threats against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the Assembly election campaign. The case, which was initially being investigated by Bidhannagar Cyber Police Station, has now been taken over by the CID. Banerjee has been asked to appear before investigators on June 16. Notably, between June 14 and June 16, he is scheduled to face questioning in three separate cases: • June 14 – Forged Signature Case: Summoned by CID • June 15 – Primary Teacher Recruitment Case: Summoned by the ED • June 16 – Inflammatory Speech Case: Summoned by CID

#Breaking| West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari has directed DGP to constitute a Special Investigation Team to probe the alleged Lakshmir Bhandar scam. Announcing the decision, the Chief Minister said that 22 fake beneficiary cases have been detected in Berhampore. Of the 22 accounts identified, one was allegedly linked to Rakibul, while 15 accounts were found in the name of one Mustafizur Sheikh and his wife. The Chief Minister alleged that thousands of male Trinamool Congress leaders, Infiltrators had been fraudulently availing benefits under the women-centric Lakshmir Bhandar scheme. “We have instructed the DGP to form an SIT. No one will be spared. Strict action will be taken against those who have entered the Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiary list using fake identities or fraudulent means,” she said.

Two Bangladeshi nationals allegedly involved in #Bangladesh’s activist #OsmanHadi murder case have been taken to Delhi by the #NIA on a special flight. The arrested individuals, Faizal Karim Masu and Alamgir Hossain, were taken to Delhi yesterday from #Kolkata On Sunday, the NIA approached the Bidhannagar Court seeking permission to interrogate the duo in jail. Sources said that the NIA had recently registered a case under the UAPA in Delhi, in which the names of these two accused were mentioned in the FIR. They are accused of being involved in violence in Bangladesh as well as allegedly spreading unrest in India. Following questioning inside the correctional home on Monday, investigators confirmed that the two individuals named in the FIR were indeed Faizal Karim Masu and Alamgir Hossain. Subsequently, the NIA officials took them to Delhi for further investigation. They were arrested by Bengal STF recently.
