Yknow what’s really upsetting about this on rewatch? The realisation that it’s actually the Doctor from The Angels Take Manhattan who’s arriving in this scene, right after losing Amy and Rory.

It is quite bad when they can pull something like this and I feel absolutely nothing. No stakes. You immediately know it’s all gonna get undone.

RTD watched the Rasputin scene from Power of the Doctor and saw it as a challenge.

It was 1975. All they had was a guy in a silly costume who could barely move. And somehow, NOTHING Sutekh did in Empire of Death comes anywhere near close to this scene.

In one short scene, Ncuti Gatwa managed to deliver what is quite possibly the most impressive performance any actor has ever given as the Doctor in the first full episode they shot. #DoctorWho

The implication here that that was the last time we’ll ever see Wilf is just too much to process. We all knew it was coming, but I’m not ready to say goodbye.
