My parents sent me to America alone at 16 because they believed in what this country promised. That promise wasn't about where you were born. It was about what you were willing to build. Immigrants have been building this country since before it was a country. And for 250 years, every generation has had to fight to keep that door open. This administration wants to slam it shut. Ban pregnant women. Strip birthright citizenship. Criminalize the very legal pathways that brought people like me here. We will fight that xenophobia.

This decision is not about fairness. This is about cruelty dressed up as policy, targeting some of the most vulnerable kids in this country for being who they are. In Washington, we are saying no. We are organizing, we are building the No Hate in WA campaign, and we are going to keep protecting every kid's right to exist, to play, to belong. This fight is not over. We do not stop until every kid in this country is safe.

I was 16 years old when I came to America alone. My parents believed in this country before I even knew what it meant to be American. It took me 17 years to become a citizen. A premature daughter. A green card nearly lost. And then: a ceremony in Seattle. Hundreds of us. Flags in our hands. In that moment I understood that America was not a gift. It was a promise. And promises require someone willing to fight for them. That is what I have done every day since. That is what I will keep doing. Happy 250th, America. ❤️🤍💙

This didn't happen by accident. It happened because the United States is blocking fuel shipments to the island, an act of collective punishment dressed up as strategy.
