President appreciates Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malkiy’s contribution to strengthening Pakistan-Saudi ties President Asif Ali Zardari has appreciated the contribution of Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Al-Malkiy, towards strengthening the longstanding fraternal and strategic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The President said this while talking to Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malkiy who called on him for a farewell call at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The President expressed appreciation for his dedicated service and the friendship, warmth and cooperation he extended to Pakistan during his tenure. He said the Ambassador had played an important role in advancing bilateral relations, particularly in the political, economic and trade spheres. The President said Pakistan deeply values its time-tested friendship and strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia and appreciated the Kingdom’s steadfast support for Pakistan. He also expressed confidence that the strong foundation laid during Ambassador Nawaf’s tenure would continue to guide bilateral cooperation in the years ahead. Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malkiy, who has served as Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan since 2017, thanked the President and the Government and people of Pakistan for the warmth and cooperation extended to him during his stay in the country. He said he would continue to hold Pakistan and its people in high regard. The President wished Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malkiy success and the very best for his future endeavours, saying that Pakistan would always remain his second home. President confers Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon Chief of Indonesian Navy President Asif Ali Zardari conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy, recognising his contribution to the promotion of relations between the two navies, at a Special Investiture Ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr today. The ceremony was attended among others by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, members of Parliament and members of the diplomatic community. Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali also called on the President, who congratulated him on the conferment of the prestigious award. Talking to him the President said Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy enduring and fraternal relations and stressed the need to further strengthen cooperation between the two navies. He said there is immense potential in the blue economy and mutual development of the maritime sector which needs to be harnessed. He appreciated the regular participation of the Indonesian Navy in exercises organised by the Pakistan Navy. Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali was accompanied by Ambassador of Indonesia Lt Gen (Ret.) Chandra W. Sukotjo. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla were also present during the meeting.

First Lady Asifa Bhutto Zardari Reaffirms Support for WFP’s Efforts to Advance Zero Hunger in Pakistan A delegation of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), led by Ms. Anita Hirsch, Representative and Country Director, WFP Pakistan, called on the Honourable First Lady of Pakistan, H.E. Asifa Bhutto Zardari, in Karachi today. The meeting was also attended by Senator Sherry Rehman; Sindh Minister for Education Syed Sardar Ali Shah; Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab; and Mr. Irfan Soomro, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The First Lady was briefed on WFP’s work in nutrition, food security, school meals and climate resilience, particularly its collaboration under the Benazir Nashonuma Programme (BNP). Since its inception, BNP has reached over three million women and children nationwide, including more than 1.7 million beneficiaries across Sindh. The delegation also highlighted WFP’s US$40 million School Meals Programme, targeting 100,000 children in 614 government schools in Malir and Keamari, as well as interventions addressing acute malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, WASH and climate resilience. The First Lady underscored the importance of the Benazir Nashonuma Programme and its complementarity with the mandates of UN agencies working in Pakistan, particularly towards achieving SDG 2: Zero Hunger. She stressed the need for an integrated approach to maternal and child health, breastfeeding, immunisation, nutrition, early childhood development and the reduction of infant mortality and stunting. She also highlighted the importance of accessible paediatric healthcare, including the work of the ChildLife Foundation, and called for greater national attention to population growth and its implications for health, education and development. Welcoming WFP’s School Meals Programme, the First Lady expressed particular interest in centralised kitchen models and proposed greater emphasis on school-based agriculture and kitchen gardens, allowing children to learn about nutrition, agriculture and healthy food through practical experience. Referring to the devastating floods of 2022, the First Lady emphasised Pakistan’s climate vulnerability and the importance of moving from disaster response towards early warning, anticipatory action and community resilience. She highlighted Sindh’s programme to construct around 2.1 million flood-resilient homes, with ownership provided to women of beneficiary households, and the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in advancing the initiative. She also highlighted the Government of Sindh’s development and social-sector interventions, particularly in Thar. The WFP delegation briefed the First Lady on anticipatory action, disaster-risk financing, early-warning systems, climate-resilient agriculture and measures to protect livelihoods and livestock from natural disasters. WFP’s programmes also support kitchen gardening, community food security and women-led livelihoods in flood-affected areas. The First Lady reaffirmed her strong support for WFP’s efforts towards achieving Zero Hunger in Pakistan and assured the delegation that she would lend her voice to advocacy and public-awareness initiatives supporting nutrition and food security nationwide. She also expressed her continued support for WFP’s ShareTheMeal initiative, to which she has personally contributed, and stressed the importance of sustained cooperation between the Government, the United Nations and development partners to ensure that Pakistan’s most vulnerable women and children have access to adequate nutrition, healthcare and education. ⸻

President receives credentials from ambassadors-designate of Italy and Republic of Korea President Asif Ali Zardari received the credentials of Ambassador-designate of Italy Ugo Ciarlatani and Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Korea Han Sungho at Aiwan-e-Sadr today. While talking to Ambassador Ciarlatani the President expressed confidence that his tenure would contribute to further strengthening Pakistan-Italy relations. He noted the steady growth in bilateral ties, particularly in trade and investment, with bilateral trade having surpassed the US$1 billion mark, and welcomed the signing of the agreement on abolition of visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders. The President also appreciated Italy’s support for Pakistan’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2025-26 term and highlighted the importance of the Pakistani community in Italy as a bridge between the two countries. During his meeting with Ambassador Han Sungho, the President said Pakistan attaches great importance to its multidimensional relationship with the Republic of Korea. He expressed Pakistan’s desire to further expand trade and investment ties, noting the ongoing negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, and welcomed cooperation in climate change, development and defence. The President expressed the hope that cooperation between the two countries in areas including shipbuilding, technology and economic development would continue to grow. First Lady inaugurates Pakistan’s first dedicated autism residential centre and inclusive park in Karachi First Lady Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari MNA and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah today inaugurated Pakistan’s first dedicated autism residential centre and Pakistan’s first inclusive park at the Centre for Autism Rehabilitation & Training (C-ARTS) in Korangi, marking a major step towards strengthening support for persons with autism. Established in 2018, C-ARTS is the first autism centre in Pakistan to provide diagnosis, rehabilitation, education, skills training and employment support for children with autism under one roof. It has four centres in Karachi and centres in Hyderabad, Gambat, Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad, providing free services, transport and stipends. The centre also offers parent training programmes and has a professional training centre. During the briefing, the First Lady was informed that the newly inaugurated residential facility will provide comprehensive care, respite services, rehabilitation, training and long-term support in a safe and inclusive environment. The First Lady was further briefed on the digitisation of C-ARTS services. The C-ARTS registration portal has gone live as part of Phase-I of the digitisation process, with the aim of moving towards a paper-free system and maintaining a single digital record for each child. The First Lady and the Sindh Chief Minister reaffirmed their commitment to empowering special persons, expanding inclusive education and ensuring that every child has access to opportunities, dignity and support. ——

President Zardari, President Pezeshkian reaffirm commitment to strengthening Pakistan-Iran ties and regional peace Islamabad: 23 June 2026 — President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian met President Asif Ali Zardari today at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, mainly regional peace and security, bilateral and regional connectivity, economic cooperation and other issues of mutual interest. The Iranian President was accompanied by Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Chief of the President’s Office Mr. Mohsen Haji Mirzaei, Minister of Interior Mr. Eskandar Momeni, Saeed Abbas Mousavi Chief of Political Affairs of President’s Office and Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam. From the Pakistani side Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chairman PPP Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, ex-Foreign Minister, Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Chief Whip Senate Senator Saleem Mandviwala and Dr. Asim Hussain were present during the meeting. President Zardari welcomed President Pezeshkian on his first State Visit to Pakistan after the recent conflict and noted that the visit reflects the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries and a desire to stay together in good and bad times. He congratulated President Pezeshkian on the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and expressed the hope that the ongoing technical-level negotiations would culminate in permanent peace in the region. The President reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled support for Iran’s peace, stability, national unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stated that Pakistan has consistently opposed one-sided initiatives and has supported dialogue and diplomacy as the means to achieve a durable and sustainable solution to regional and global challenges. He also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to preserving the unity of the Muslim Ummah while maintaining strong fraternal relations with the countries of the Gulf region. President Zardari once again expressed condolences on the martyrdom of His Eminence Ali Hosseini Khamenei and said that Pakistan would participate in his funeral. President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its positive and constructive efforts in support of peace and dialogue and appreciated the support extended by Pakistan during recent challenging circumstances. He said Iran attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan and looks forward to further expanding cooperation in political, economic, security and regional matters. President calls for strengthening political and economic ties with Libya President Asif Ali Zardari has asked Pakistan’s Ambassador-Designate to Libya, Maj. Gen. (R) Mumtaz Hussain, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr today, to work towards strengthening high-level political engagement and expanding economic, trade and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Libya. The President, while congratulating Maj. Gen. (R) Mumtaz Hussain on his appointment, said Pakistan attaches great importance to its longstanding and cordial relations with Libya, based on shared faith, mutual respect and common values. He emphasised the scope for enhanced cooperation in defence, energy, information technology, healthcare, education, agriculture and human resource development. The President also stressed the importance of greater interaction between the business communities of the two countries and highlighting investment opportunities in Pakistan under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). The President said Pakistan would continue to support Libya’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and efforts for lasting peace, stability and national reconciliation. He asked the Ambassador-Designate to accord priority to the welfare of the Pakistani community in Libya. He also expressed hope for continued cooperation with Libya at the United Nations, the OIC and other multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest, including Palestine and Jammu & Kashmir.
