A small fix bladed knife is an excellent addition to a pistol. Having it where you can access it with both hands is a lesson I learned the first time I had to fight in kit. The purpose is to get back to your pistol or make space so you can draw if someone is on top of you. Keeping it in a comfortable location will make you less likely to leave it at home, it doesn’t need to be a Bowie, just big enough to suit the role.

For my friends that have an issue with white-knuckling their pistol (example pic on the right), give this a try. Once you understand physically that it’s not going to jump out of your hand, the mental part will immediately click. All you need to do to retain the pistol is touch your thumb and middle finger. Then, return to your proper 2 handed support grip. You’ll see immediate improvement. Sometimes I describe grip pressure as holding a soft-boiled or raw egg. Your hands are locked firmly together, but don’t squish the egg between your palms. (Don’t do this with a Deagle!🤣) I’m not here to show off flashy stuff, so I went with something many people have. The only flashy stuff I’m going to post are my mini-horses.

If you’re thirsty in the summer and don’t want to give the beverage companies your money, here’s my favorite Luddite beverage… Switchel. It’s the original farmer’s Gatorade. I’ve been making it several years now & go by taste instead of recipe, but the recommended recipe is the following: ° 4 cups of water ° 1/2 cup Apple cider vinegar ° 2 tablespoons of ginger ° Maple syrup or molasses as sweetener Switchel is a slightly tangy, slightly sweet beverage, excellent poured over ice. It will wind up anywhere between brown & orange, depending on how much molasses you add. If you need more salt in your diet, you can also add a sprinkle into the mix. I play with the ingredient amounts every time to make sure it’s not too acidic or sweet for my taste.
