In The Backrooms, the blue bag Clark found with an ID belonged to an Async worker who had been sent to explore the Backrooms. Even after he cried for help over the radio—and they clearly heard him—they abandoned him. To me, Async is just a group of scientists willing to do whatever it takes to study the Backrooms. They don’t seem to care what happens to the people they send on these missions. My theory is that they’re completely self-centered. If you watch the tape to the end, they witnessed everything that happened to that worker, all the way up to the moment Still Life Clark ate him.
